I step cautiously down the crowded school hall, not looking around afraid someone will catch my eye and I'll trip over or something equally embarrassing. My plain brown satchel bounces out behind me, protecting my backside from any cheeky slap one of the guys here might dare to do. I've seen many girls get "arse slapped" and honestly I'm not really the type of girl guys choose to perform that type of action on, but that doesn't stop me from fearing it all the same. I push my hand through my hair, a nervous gesture of mine, and just before I reach my locker I look up.

BANG! Harry is slammed into the wall in front of me, blocking my path. I jump back in horror and quickly glance around, looking for anyone that would run to get help, but apparently no one here has much of a heart, as some stop with eager eyes to watch the scene unravel, while others gait past in fear of being caught up in a petty fight.

"Harry!" I shout, worried that his skull has been cracked or something. His eyes are watering and he's slumped into the arms that pin him to the wall. I look at Harry's aggressor and see none other than Mr Popular himself, Josh Clarke.

"You little piece of fu..." Josh starts, but I interrupt.

"STOP! What the hell are you doing? Let go of him!" I shout at Josh, praying he will listen to me. "LET GO JOSH!"

His face snaps towards me and he glares, his chocolate brown eyes bore into mine. As hard as it is, I hold his gaze, determined not to lose eye contact, in my attempt to save Harry.

"Get out of it April. This has nothing to do with you." He hisses still staring at me.

"I've got every right to know! Harry tell him!" I break our stare off to look at Harry, pleading him with my eyes.

"April..." He says, "Maybe you shouldn't know this. Just go, I'll handle Josh."

My jaw drops as shock flows through me, Harry tells me everything, there isn't a secret Harry knows that I don't. It doesn't matter who's secret it belongs to, if Harry knows, I know. So what on earth could this be about? Surely it couldn't be bad enough to have me oblivious to the situation? I mean, I know everything about Harry. I'm sure of it.

"See? Leave. I don't want you in all of this shit, Love." Josh announces with a slightly warmer tone to his voice.

"No. Not until you let Harry go."

He glances at Harry, still pinned against the wall, then looks back at me. Slowly he loosens his grip on Harry's shoulders but Harry stays put.

"What is wrong with you?" He asks Josh boldly. Never have I seen my best friend stand up against someone as high up in the status at this school as Josh, as much as Harry has been picked on or teased for numerous reasons, he's never stood up for himself. Never actually fought back, so why the sudden act of bravery? Why now? Why not three years ago when he was being picked on for being overweight? Why not a year ago when he was being told he would never be able to lose the amount of pounds, stones even, that he wished to achieve? Why not four months ago when he was being picked on because everyone thought he would just gain all his lost weight straight back? Why now?

"Leave." Josh replies but when Harry yet again doesn't move, Josh shoves him, lighter than before, but hard enough. "NOW!"

Slowly, Harry backs away, and is soon out of sight, heading to his first class I suspect. I turn to Josh, trying to put as much poison into my expression as possible, even if it does probably look more like I'm constipated or something.

"Sorry you had to see that." Josh says. "See you some time I guess, maybe the party? Oh and you can bring Vicky."

"Is that all you have to say for yourself?" I practically scream. "Sorry? You nearly knocked my best friend out cold! I need some explanation or I'm pretty sure I won't be coming to that stupid party of yours."

He pauses for a minute before a humorous smile appears at the corners of his mouth, he chuckles, sexily. That word pops to my head before I could stop it, and to be honest, it describes him perfectly. I cringe, his looks really don't go hand in hand with his personality.

"You really think I care that much if you came or not? And your'd come anyway, there's no way you could resist the temptation." He sneers, but his eyes look comical, playful almost.

"I think not." I respond "What makes you think I would want to come to any party? Let alone one you're hosting?" I wrinkle up my nose in disgust. What is it with this guy? One moment he's all nice and "here's your bag" and the next a vile human being with nothing in the means of decency and kindness.

"You'll come." He repeats and I turn up my nose and walk off, ignoring the fact that I've completely missed my locker, I'll just have to borrow some of Vicky's school supplies.

"Wait! April, wait." After a few seconds he comes running up behind me and twists me around. He holds my arm to keep me from walking away again, I cringe, yet again, at the fact that his grip sends small electrical shocks through my body, I rip my arm away from his but stay put.

"What?" I hiss.

He sighs "Please come?" He turns and walks away before I can even reply. Unfortunately I know I will end up at the party, even if I managed to convince myself to stay home Vicky would surely drag me out of my house by my ears if necessary. She wouldn't pass up an opportunity like this for all the money in the world.

I turn away from his retreating figure and walk to history.

Joy.

Was that short? It felt short?

I don't usually swear in my story's and I hope no one minds that much, it's all because it's part of Josh's character! He's a bit two faced don't you think? ;)
