You Make Me Feel Alive , Again .

Chapter One : Lame Excuses .

Prince Gumball's Point of View

I asked Fionna to come to the castle today . I told her I had another " mission " for her but I lied . I feel horrible for lying to her , but she doesn't understand how I feel . Whenever she's around , I get all weird and nervous . If I tell her how I feel , she's going to think I'm a weirdo , and she's not gonna be my friend anymore .

I don't want that . I rather keep my feelings locked up , stay friends and not lose her forever .

My phone vibrates from my pocket , and butterflies fill my stomach instantly . It's a text from Fionna . I look at the notification , my eyes staring at the name displayed on the screen ..

Fionna .  

' I'll be there in a sec , just gotta wait till Cake gets ready . You know how she is . '

I smile at the text and thoughts fill my mind , it would be pretty awesome if we could talk like this on a daily basis . I can text her without a problem , but when she's around .. I start to stutter , I start to shake and sweat and I know chicks are not into guys like that ; guys like me . 

' Gumball , I can't wait to see you :) ' She double texts me again , making my cheeks a darker shade of pink than they already are . I smile as I text her back . I've known Fionna for a very long time and at first , I was strictly business . I just wanted to get these missions done and get over it . But , we started to talk and hangout more and I immediately caught feelings for her .

I sigh and say " Gumball , you need to make a move before someone else does " I'm alone in my room , the guards are scattered around the castle so nobody can hear me ; unless someone's spying on me , which I doubt it . 

I'm surprised that Fionna is still single , though . She's so beautiful ,  kind and her personality is the greatest I've ever seen . She's strong , brave , doesn't care about people's opinions and I like that . I've seen the way she fights , the way she deals with her missions and different situations . She's amazing at what she does .

" It looks like you're deep in thought , again , Gumball " Fionna laughs , as she comes into the room . I gasp as I turn around to greet her . I notice that my legs and hands are starting to shake as I come closer to her , which is normal . She greets me with a playful hug , like she always does .

She's much shorter than I am , but it's cute . I like hugging her because it feels like I'm protecting her from harms' way . But most of the time , it's the other way around .

" It's good to see you again , Fionna " I smile as she pulls away and kneels down , showing respect . I don't like when she treats me like royalty . I'm just a simple Prince , it doesn't mean anything to me . I like to keep things simple , most of the time I don't like being a prince . I wish I could be free to do what I want when I wanted it , but I can't complain . As long as I can see that beautiful face every day , I'm a happy Prince .

" What kind of mission do we have for today , Gumball ? " Cake winks at me , she knows I've had a crush on Fionna for a very long time and I'm glad she kept it a secret . The only reason Cake knows about my secret crush on Fionna is because the guards caught me talking to Cinnamon Bun about it . I told them to keep it a secret or I would fire them . I wasn't being serious but if Fionna found out from them , we'd have a big problem .

" Fionna , Cake " I sigh as I walk towards the window . I scratch the back of my head in thought and continue " This mission is extremely important , so I need you two to pay close attention "

" I'm gonna have to send you two to another dimension , into the Vampire Kingdom . Their king , Marshall Lee has stolen something of mine and I need it back to finish my science experiment . You think you could do it ? " I roll my eyes at the thought of Marshall Lee . I've never liked that blood-sucking son of a devil . 

Fionna sees my reaction and laughs playfully " Awh , the poor little vampire stole your toy ? " She punches my arm lightly , making me laugh as well . " We'll get it back , Gumball . I promise " Fionna assures me as she smiles . I look down at her innocent face , and smile . Even though she teases me constantly , she could never make me angry or ruin my mood .

Fionna and Cake bow down to me , showing respect again . I sway my arm to show that I want them to stop . I like getting respect and attention but it's just me . Yeah , I may be Prince Gumball but I'm no one special , especially to Fionna . She thinks of me like an " older brother " which hurts me deeply , but it doesn't bother me at this point .

" Alright , let's get started , then " I smile with confidence , hoping I'm not acting weird around her . She's the only person I care about , that's why I try my best to make her happy , make her laugh and impress her with my charms .

Still , she probably thinks I'm a loser . 

I need to stop with these lame excuses and make a move before someone else snatches her away from me .
