You Make Me Feel Alive , Again .

Chapter Twenty One : Happiness .

Fionna's Point of View

Well , Gumball and I both decided that it was best if we gave Marshall another chance . I talked to Gumball about it when Ariel left for her sleepover at Cake's . At first , I was having a lot of doubts and thoughts but slowly , Gumball convinced me . Sooner or later , Ariel will have to know who her real father is ; might as well start somewhere , right ?

It's true , Marshall does deserve another chance to prove that he's a good father to Ariel . I'm not going to lie , I'm always going to have a soft spot for him because he's my daughter's father and well .. he once was the love of my life , but I don't know anymore . But honestly , I'm only thinking about Ariel's feelings and not my own .

Gumball also told me that Ariel keeps mentioning Marshall's name in their conversation , but it's weird because she never mentions him to me . I do have a gut feeling that she may know , or she may feel a close connection to him ; which makes me happy and scared at the same time . Even though I'm allowing him to be in her life , doesn't mean I trust him completely with it .

I went to talk to him a few hours ago . At first , it was really awkward and we could both sense the tension , but that was to be expected ; he didn't know that I was going to go to his place . It's been awhile since I've been there and I did miss it but I only went there to tell him what we agreed on . Also , I did notice a few things when I came into his room ; well , our old room . He has a medium-size picture frame of all of us on his nightstand ; it was at the hospital , I just had given birth to Ariel . It's a picture of all of us holding little Ariel . I also noticed that everything was exactly the way we left it , nothing has changed . When I was there , I started having visions of old memories we used to have in his room ; both sexual and non-sexual .

I did cry , believe me . We both had a moment , where we stayed quiet and the only thing we did was cry . I really wanted to hold him , rub his back and tell him that everything was going to be okay again , but that's not my place anymore . I'm sure he's moved on to better things .

" Hey , darling " Gumball comes into the room . I haven't seen him since I left to go to Marshall's , he's been busy with the kingdom so we haven't had the time to talk about my conversation with Marshall . " How did it go ? " He sits down on the bed , beside me ; yes , we do share a room , and a bed .. but we haven't done anything serious , just a bunch of cuddles . He's told me that he's wanted to have sex with me before but he's understanding about my situation and even though he has desires , he respects me and he will give me time until I'm ready . I kiss his cheek as he starts to undress , changing into his pajamas .

" Well .. " I start , watching him from a distance ; even though we're not official or anything , I trust him a lot and we really don't mind changing clothes or getting naked in front of one another . We've been close ever since we were kids , so it doesn't really matter . " He was surprised to see me .. and , we talked . He was happy about our decision " I smile as he lays down beside me , looking at me . He rubs my thigh comfortingly , I know this is a big step in our lives but I think it's for the best ; I just hope I don't end up regretting it .

" I'm proud of you , Fionna .. " He kisses my cheek before turning to the other side , turning off his nightlight and drifting off to sleep ; I'm pretty sure he's tired and I'm going to let him sleep but sadly , I barely sleep nowadays ; first of all , vampires rarely need sleep and second of all , with everything going on .. I can't seem to fall asleep easily . " Goodnight , love you " He whispers sleepily , making me smile . I look to my left and softly rub my hand through his hair , he likes it when I do that ; he said it helps him fall asleep easier , it relaxes him . 

- The Next Morning -

Marshall and I both agreed that he would visit constantly , whenever he wanted . He could come visit Ariel while she was in school , see what she does and how much she's progressed in conquering her vampire skills . Long story short , he could visit us as much as he wanted . He would have to tell me in advance , though , so I can get Ariel ready for him .

" Hey , sweetie " I kiss Ariel's forehead as soon as she walks into the living room , she just came back from her sleepover at Cake's . I'm sure she had a lot of fun . She quickly goes to her room , unpacks and comes back quickly . I'm sure she's hungry , so I go into the kitchen to make her breakfast ; if you're wondering what she eats , she eats vampire and human food . But honestly , she likes vampire food better . " Did you have fun at Cake's ? " She sits down on the stool in front of the kitchen counter , looking at what I'm making .

" Mommy , it was a blast ! " She giggles at me , making me smile as well . I'm really glad my little girl is happy , because that gives me such a comforting feeling that I know everything will be okay , that everything will turn out okay in the end . " Cake Jr. showed me some of his sick moves and powers , and we had tons of fun with the rest of his siblings " I chuckle as she continues telling me her story , it makes me happy that she's really connecting with Cake's children .

" That's amazing , sweetheart " I kiss her forehead as I set her plate in front of her . She thanks me with a kiss on my cheek and starts eating her pancakes covered in raspberry sauce . I'm kind of nervous to tell her that Marshall is coming over today to visit , but I'm sure she'll be just as excited as him . I'm sure she'll be okay with it but I gotta explain it to her though " Listen , baby .. Marshall is coming over today , to see us . I hope that's okay " As soon as that sentence came out of my mouth , she jumpes and run towards me to give me a hug .

I hope this meeting goes well , and I'm really sure it will be but let's hope for the best , right ?

At least Ariel looks happy , which gives me a comforting feeling .

Happiness is all I'm looking for at the moment .
