You Make Me Feel Alive , Again .

Chapter Nine : Waiting .

Marshall Lee's Point of View

I'm starting to get extremely worried now . Fionna left to go to the store for ice cream about two hours ago , and she isn't back yet . I'm sure it doesn't take that long to buy a damn pint of ice cream . I've called her about fifteen times , I've texted her another twenty times and I've left about thirty voice messages ; call me crazy , I don't care , I'm just extremely worried .

I may be worried but , I'm going to give her some space . I wanted to go look for her , because I'm such an overprotective father and boyfriend , but I decided to stay put because we both need time away from each other , too . Don't get me wrong , I love spending time with her and our baby but it's been awhile since I had some me time , it's been awhile since I've killed something , it's been awhile since I've hunted for food . I used to do that all the time before me and Fionna were a thing , and I stopped for her sake but I do miss how things used to be . Being violent was the only thing that made me feel alive after being dead for so long . Now , Fionna makes me feel that way but I just miss feeling like a real vampire , again .

It wouldn't hurt if I killed something for food , right ? Fionna wouldn't have to know . And , I do miss chasing animals or people for blood . I miss being the vampire I used to be . I should do it , for my own sanity . Alright , let's do it .

I put on a black hoodie before going out , the sun is starting to set , which is the time I used to go out before . I like hiding in the dark , in the shadows , it makes me feel safe and it also makes it easier for me to catch victims . I hide behind a tree , trying to get a smell of fresh blood ; the smell of fresh blood makes my mouth water .

I spot a human walking by , looking a tiny bit lost . He's carrying a map , looking around and I can see that he's terrified ; perfect . I slowly walk behind him , my steps are quiet so he won't hear me . As soon as he turns around , I jump on him and dig my fangs into his neck sucking that fresh and tasty blood . It doesn't take long before he's dead on the ground . That was nice .

I don't like killing humans , or animals . But , I just had to this time . It's about to be a year since I stopped my old ways but , I couldn't control myself . Just because I have a baby on the way and a girlfriend now doesn't mean that I have to change or become a different person .

I hear footsteps running behind me , making me alert . I turn around , ready to kill whatever's trying to kill me but instead , I crash into Gumball . He rubs his head as he looks at me , and shakes his head ; I know there's blood stains around my mouth but he doesn't have to be so shocked about it . He knows who I am , nothing has changed .

" You really haven't changed , huh ? " He rolls his eyes at me . I sigh , cross my arms and tap my foot against the ground impatiently . Gumball's always ruining special moments , like this one . I wanted to continue hunting for food and killing but Gumball just had to come over here to distract me .

 " What do you want , Gumball ? I'm busy " I point at my mouth . He rolls his eyes and for a moment , I see sadness and worry in his eyes . I wonder why he's in my kingdom , why he's talking to me and why he came all this way looking for me . He looks around , almost if he's looking for someone or something he's lost . He needs to start making sense before I knock it out of him . he's getting on my nerves .

" Where's Fionna ? " His voice is shaky and terrified . When he mentions her name , my heart drops to my stomach . Fionna's in trouble , someone hurt her , and she needs me . My non-existent heart beat starts rising , showing proof that I'm nervous and that I'm getting angry ; which isn't a pretty sight .

" Gumball " I grab his shirt collar , pulling him up . I look deep into his eyes , my eyes burning with fear and anger " Where the fuck is Fionna , Gumball ? " My thirst for Gumball's blood increases . I lick my lips as I stare at his neck . I've always wanted to try his sweet blood , maybe I'll get the chance tonight . He punches my cheek , and I set him down immediately . I rub my cheek meat as he struggles to catch his breath . I guess I am a scary , huh ?

" I-I don't know , Marshall . I thought she was here with you ! " His voice rises , making me jump a bit . I've never seen Gumball so angry in his life , and I've known him since he was a baby . He punches a tree , letting his anger show . I think he's losing his mind " Fionna is missing , and you don't know where the fuck she is ? You really are responsible , huh ? " He says sarcastically , making me feel ashamed .

I hiss at Gumball . I ignore what he just said , grab him and start flying towards the Candy Kingdom . There's no time to lose , Fionna is missing and it's all my fault . I cared more about myself and my desires than my missing girlfriend . I really am a shitty ass person . I don't now why Fionna is still with me , or is still interested in me . She's probably going to hate me after this for not worrying about her and the baby enough .

I drop Gumball on the ground as soon as we get there . Everything is dark and mysterious . I can feel the tension in here , we're at the castle . " Let's split up and try to look for her " I say , and Gumball nods in my direction . I fly to cover more ground , it's easier this way . I feel so bad and guilty for letting this happen , I should've trusted my gut . And now , Fionna is missing because I didn't pay enough attention to her .

Oh , Fionna . I hope you and the baby are okay , my darling .

" Gumball ! Marshall ! " Cake runs up to me and Gumball , I'm the first one to get to her . Cake's expression has fear and worry all over it , which makes me feel even worse . " It's Fionna . S-Someone found her , but she's hurt . They're doing some sort of procedure but nobody can go in there until they're done " Cake faints , and Gumball catches her in his arms . Tears burn my eyes as I replay Cake's words in my head . I failed her . My only responsibility was to take care of her and the baby , and to watch over them but it looks like I already failed that miserably .

I burst into the castle , and fly towards the hospital . I crash into a nurse . I apologize as she nods . Her eyes widen as she sees me , Gumball behind me with Cake in his arms . She knows why we're here , we're here for Fionna . " I want to see her , please " I beg , tears rolling down my cheeks . I've never felt more angry , more disappointed , more weak in my life . I fall on my knees and close my eyes , hoping this is all a huge nightmare . I open my burning eyes and hope to find something else , but this isn't a nightmare ; this is real life .

" I'm sorry , Marshall " The nurse and Gumball help me up . I can't even feel anything anymore . " You'll have to wait till she's done . You can see her in about an hour or two " Gumball nods and the nurse leaves us . Great , I have to wait two hours to see Fionna and my baby . I want to know what happened , why she's getting a procedure , and if she's hurt or not ; I swear , I'm going to kill whoever hurt my two babies . I promise .

Please be okay , Fionna . I'm sorry , but please don't leave me ..
