It has now been 2 months since I have last seen Shawn. I have finished all of my work for Felicity, so now I'm waiting to hear from my boss about my newest client. My boss was very happy with my work, so he promised me a promotion if I did as well with this client.
I am sitting at my desk, staring down at the city below. I 'haven't been me' since Shawn left, well, that's what Jessi said at least. We have gone to dinner, the movies, shopping, gotten pedicures, nothing seems to get him off of my mind.
It was then when I realized that, I might never. The only way to get him off of my mind was to go and see him, so that's what I would do.
I pulled up a website on my computer. I had seen a lot of adds for this website lately, so I decided to give it a shot. I booked a flight to L.A. tomorrow morning and booked another one back three days later. Jessi was always telling me about how much she wants to see L.A., so I got her a ticket too.
I decided that if I was going to L.A., I needed to take off of work. I know I probably should have done this first, so I hesitantly walked to my boss' office and knocked on the door.
"Hello, Mr. Rogers?"
"Come in."
I took a deep breath before walking in. All kinds of scenarios started going through my head, and none of them ended greatly. I walked in and sat down in the chair that I had my interview in so many months ago.
"Mr. Rogers, I want to get straight to the point. Can I-"
"Can you take off a couple of days to go see your boyfriend, because you haven't been the same since he left and you miss him."
My mouth fell open. "Oh, um, yes. That is exactly right."
He snorted. "Of course it is. I've worked with you young people long enough. This is not the first time this has happened."
I looked down at my hands. "I hate to seem rushed and rude, but you never answered my question."
"Of course you can. All you were doing here anyways was staring at the wall. Just promise me that as soon as you come back, you'll be ready to meet your newest client and get straight to work."
I nodded, eagerly. "Yes sir, I will."
"Ok. How many days do you plan to take off?"
"Well, tomorrow's Tuesday, so from tomorrow until Friday."
"Ok. Nice talk, Rebecca."
I nod with a smile and tell him to have a nice day. I relax once I reach the elevator, hoping that Jessi will agree to this. The fact that she wanted to go to L.A. was not the only reason I got her a ticket. I also needed a friend. Shawn will probably be busy, so I needed someone to keep my company. And if we do end up breaking up, I will probably need a shoulder to lean on.
I reach the top, making my way to my office. I grab my phone from my purse and dial Jessi's number. It only rings twice before she picks up.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Jessi. I have some news!"
"Oh gosh, were you fired? I knew this day would come. It's going to be ok-"
"No! I was not fired." I laughed a little, shaking my head at her ignorance. "It's good. I just took the rest of the week off, and bought two plane tickets to L.A. tomorrow morning!"
"Wow! Why? Shawn -oh. That's why you're going. But who's going with you?"
"You are, stupid! I know how much you've wanted to go to L.A., so I thought I would take you with me."
She gasped. "Really! Yay! I love you so much!"
I smiled. "I know, I know. Meet me at my apartment tomorrow morning at six. We'll get Starbucks. See you then!"
"Ok, bye!"
I smiled as I ended the call. I love making people happy.
