One Year Later

New York City, New York

Newt clutched the flower tight, breathing deeply, trying to calm his nerves. His heart thumped hard against his chest as he knocked softly at her door. He knew it might backfire, but it was time. Soon, the door opened.

She had just woken up. Her blue pajamas seemed vibrant against the dark brown tones of the home. Tina looked at him in confusion. "Newt? What are you doing here so early in the morning?" She asked although she didn't mind him visiting her at this time. Quite the opposite, really. Seeing him always made her day. "What's that in your hand?"

"It's a... a flower," He explained, growing rather flushed and nervous. "I thought that... well, you know, it's commonly said that ladies like..."

"Like flowers? Newt, what are you doing?" She was confused now, but it was dawning upon her what he meant. "Are you...?"

"Well, you see, it's a popular belief that in order to ask a woman on a date, you have to bring her-"

Newt's explanation was interrupted by Tina's lips meeting his. "You were gone all night, I thought-"

"I know, I'm sorry. I was just so nervous I... anyways... I... yeah," Newt struggled to get the words out, so he shut his mouth promptly. "I figured we could go on a picnic. I know you've loved picnics. I have the food all prepared in my case, I figured we could go to Central Park and eat there."

"Of course," Tina said, a bright smile on her face. She waved her wand and suddenly she was dressed, a long, pretty white dress taking place of her pajamas. "Saves us some time, Mr. Scamander," She said, taking the flower out of his hand and linking her arm with his. "To Central Park."

The couple apparated into the park, finding a quiet corner between a few trees to sit between. It was a beautiful spring day, with flowers in bloom and chirping birds all around. Tina laid out the blanket and pulled out the food, only to turn around and hear Newt clearing his throat behind her. She gasped as she turned around, facing him on his knees, kneeling for her with a ring in his hand. He began, "Porpentina Esther Goldstein... you are my everything. I cannot imagine my life without you, in fact, I do not even want to consider a life as miserable as that. What I'm saying, Tina, is that you're the love of my life, and it would be an honor to be able to call you my wife."

Tina nodded her way through the tears. "Yes," she said. "Always, yes!" She enveloped him in a hug, and they sat there for a moment, enjoying each other's embraces.

They drank and ate in celebration, a few of Newt's creatures popping out of the case to say their congratulations. "After all this time." Newt stretched his arms out, taking Tina's hand and basking in the sun's soft light. Their hands fit perfectly together, and they lay together in agreeable silence. The world had never seemed so gentle, and they finally felt at peace.
