Newt tip-toed out of his bedroom, shutting the door softly so he wouldn't wake up any of the creatures that were asleep. He moved ever so slightly, grabbing a bucket that had been filled with the creature's dinners in the morning. He strolled out into the evening light, watching as the sky turned to a brilliant orange. Thought it was odd. It was a dark orange, and the air was musty and humid. The rain seemed to pour down a few feet away from him and it was spreading through his case. Rain wasn't unusual, but the weather patterns he'd cast in his case didn't line up with this sudden outburst.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw Tina sitting in the rain, her knees pulled up to her chest. She wasn't an infrequent visitor, but at times like these, it was likely she was preparing for bed. Or already in it.
"You really could spend a lifetime here. Not that I'm going to..." Tina muttered to herself, surveying the exhibit of the case where the thunderbird once lay. Now all that remained was a desert habitat, where a beautiful sunset was taking place.
Newt walked to stand by her side and said, "I've only got one life, Tina. I could spend it with you if you want." The rain poured down into his hair and Tina looked up, her eyes full of sadness. The grief of losing her sister, and the terror of prior events, was finally settling in. And it was driving her mad. Newt knew this. "What do you want me to do, Tina?" Newt whispered, his eyes narrow and full of sadness. "What can I do to help you?"
Tina kissed him in response. She was gentle and tasted of mint. Newt pressed his hand to her cheek, only to feel a gathering wetness pool into the crevice between his palm and her cheek and slide over the edge, spilling onto his hand. Only a moment later, she pulled back and rested her forehead on Newt's. She stared into his eyes and in a low voice, Tina said, "I need you."

Newt stumbled into his bedroom, Tina clinging to him desperately, their lips never separating. He wanted to be as gentle as he could, not rushing or pushing Tina to do something she wasn't complicit with. Tina shut the door with her hand, kicking her boots off in the process. "Tina," Newt said, his voice low as he pressed their foreheads together. "Are you sure this is what you want? That you're not just doing this because... because of me? Or because you're upset?"
Tina lifted her gaze to meet Newt's, and to his surprise, she was close to tears. "I need it. I need to feel something different. I need to feel you," she said, her voice soft and desperate. "Please, Newt, I can't feel like this anymore. I need to know you still love me."
It was the grief in Tina's voice that made Newt's heart lurch. "Tina...," he breathed, his eyes emitting a sadness that shot to his very core. "I will always love you. There's nothing that could change that. Not one thing." He enveloped her in another kiss, this one not as passionate, but gentle. He wanted to convey all the words he couldn't say into that one kiss, to make sure Tina knew she was the only one he wanted, that she was everything he needed and more. Newt's right hand found its way to her left, and their hands stayed connected as they kissed. He could taste the salt from her tears, and that only made his heart ache for her. He needed to show her how much she meant to him. He fingered the hem of her blouse, and his eyes met hers. "May I?" He asked, his eyes wide. Tina nodded and began unbuttoning the buttons herself. Newt's hand reached out to stop hers. "No, Tina, let me do it." Tina backed her hands away, instead putting them on his elbows to steady herself as Newt unbuttoned the rest of her blouse. His hands were warm against her bare skin, and she melted into his touch. "Let me show you how much I love you." He kissed every expanse of skin as it was revealed, whispering sweet nothings into her skin as he went down to her stomach, all the way down to the edge of her trousers.
He gently sat her on the edge of the bed, and knelt before her.
"I shall kneel for no one."
No one but her. His equal. His friend through all qualms, his lover in the later days. The only woman he would sacrifice everything for.
Tina watched Newt's fingers meticulously undo the buttons of her trousers before peeling them off little by little, his eyes observing every new expanse of skin that was uncovered. When they were entirely off and halfway across the room, he fingered the band of her underwear. He traced his thumb along the middle of her fabric, right near her core, and closed his eyes as he exhaled loudly. "Tina," Newt said, his breath hot against her skin, "May I touch you here?"
"Yes," she breathed, lifting her hips up to allow Newt access. He carefully slid the fabric down her thighs and calves until it was in a jumble on the ground. Newt met her eyes then, his expression filled with adoration.
"You're so beautiful," he said quietly, and Tina knew he wasn't talking about just her physicality. His eyes flicked to her exposed center. "Is this still okay?" His breath was hot against her, and goosebumps broke out against her skin as he trailed kisses down her thighs, small bumps raising the hair on her legs. He gave a small smile at that, gently nipping at the skin that was right near her core. He ran his hands up her thighs, resting his fingers right near where she wanted him most. Newt saw that and raised his eyes to meet hers, a silent question asking for her consent. Tina nodded desperately, and Newt wasted no time answering her silent plea. "You are so strong," he whispered, a finger entering her. "And so brave. You are so brave, Tina." Her mouth had opened in a silent gasp as he inserted a second finger, her hand reaching down to cover his. He moved slowly, careful not to overbear her. His fingers crooked inside her, and Tina whimpered, which elicited a smile from him. "I've never met anyone like you." His thumb hovered over her clit, and she lifted her hips to tell him exactly what she wanted. He obliged, pressing long, slow circles and sighing brokenly when Tina whimpered louder, her hand crushing his as he continued his ministrations. "You've shown me a happiness I never thought I'd get." He continued the taunting pace of his fingers inside her, and Tina lifted her leg onto the mattress, spreading her legs wider to give him more access. "Merlin, I am so in love with you Tina." With that, her removed his thumb and replaced it with his mouth.
The noise Tina let out could only be described as wanton pleasure, and her head hit the duvet cover with a thump. She tangled her fingers in Newt's hair, and he quickly discovered what she liked best. He continued his slow, methodical pace, drawing out every moment and savoring her reactions to his ministrations. Tina didn't mind, pleasure coursing through her as she felt the tightness gathering in her stomach.
The tightness continued to grow until it crested and her hips lifted off the mattress, eliciting a sigh from Newt. "That's my Tina," he said quietly, planting on kiss on her center before crawling back over her body, his clothing removed by magic.
"Newt, I need you," she declared, her voice barely above a whisper.
He looked at her then, his eyes admitting his every emotion he'd felt for this woman, and entwined his fingers with hers. "You have me," he whispered, and slowly, he entered her.
Tina tilt her head back with a gasp as he filled her, squeezing his hand with her left and entwining her right in his hair. Newt began to move slightly, and Tina squeezed her eyes shut before opening them again "I love you," She said brokenly, speaking between gasps.

He held her after, holding her close as their breathing calmed. After a moment, Tina took a deep breath. Newt shut his eyes, for he knew what was coming; the inevitable tears, the nightmares, having to soothe her when he understood there was nothing that could be done. He could hardly stand seeing his love in so much pain, and yet, he endured it for her.
Tina spoke softly, and her words surprised him.
"I think we'll be okay now."
