"Peter, it's okay to cry." Aunt May said with a hand on Peter's cheek. "You have had a lot happened to you, and you've been strong for too long, so it's okay to let out a little tears." She kissed his head in a motherly way, and walked out of his room. He cried and cried until he heard a loud scream coming from the other room. He ran to investigate, only to find his aunt on fire. "Save me Peter! Save me!" She cried out tears streaming down her terrified face. "Why aren't you doing anything? Why can't you save me Spiderman?" She said before she let out one last horrifying scream and dropped dead to the ground.
Peter woke up screaming. Tony was already there by his side, comforting him with a soothing voice, "It's okay. It was just a nightmare. It wasn't real." He repeated over and over again until Peter finally calmed down. These nightmares were getting worse everyday. He went from yelling in his sleep to waking up screaming. Tony was growing increasingly worried about him. He had switched rooms with Vision for the time being, just to be closer to Peter.
Everyone else heard the commotion from downstairs in the kitchen. Bucky looked really concerned, "That's what I sounded like while I was recovering in Wakanda." He said sadly.
"What do you mean?" Natasha asked.
"I mean I woke up screaming every night. It was the guilt of knowing what I had done when I was compromised. I'm like 90 years old, and he's only 18. No one that young should be going through this." Everyone just nodded their heads in agreement. Tony cane downstairs and sat down at the table.
"Is he okay?" Sam asked.
"No he isn't." Tony answered. "His aunt's funeral is today and he's not ready to say goodbye." They all became silent and remained so for the rest of breakfast.

Later at the funeral, Peter was asked to say a few words about Aunt May. "May was more than my aunt, she was my mother. She was the one who took me in after my parents left me at her front doorstep. She and my uncle, Ben, always protected me after they found out my parents had died not so long after they left me. They made me feel loved, even when I didn't want to. Then after Ben died, me and May just took care of each other. We made a promise to each other to always be there for one another, and I failed that promise to her. I just hope that she could forgive me." Peter said in a shaky voice. He turned around to the coffin she was in and whispered "I'm sorry." He went back to his spot in between Tony and MJ. MJ placed a hand on Peter's shaking hands to calm him down. The person officiating the funeral said one final prayer, and said that they could leave. Everyone but Peter got up. Peter sat there and watched them bury his aunt.He watched as the dirt engulfed his aunt's coffin. Everything was still super surreal for him. He still couldn't believe his aunt was gone for good. It was like this whole lifetime he had with her had just vanished. He had all these memories with her floating around his head, and he couldn't catch any of them. It was like the thought of saying goodbye forever was suffocating him and made it hard for him to breathe.
"You ready to go Pete?" Peter heard Tony say faintly. He turned to look at his adoptive father, and he reluctantly nodded his head yes. The second he stood up he became dizzy and everything became dark.
