Tony thought it might be good for Peter to start being Spiderman again. Peter hasn't been Spiderman since he died. Tony was worried about asking Peter to go out there and fight crime, but it could help Peter tremendously. It could help him forgive himself. It could help him with his nightmares maybe. It could help him accept his Aunt's death. It could help him with these things in a way that no one else could. Tony went through all this in his head until he heard Peter return from school. "Hey Pete."
"Yes Tony." Even though Tony was practically his dad, Peter felt wrong calling Tony, 'dad'.
"I was thinking you could be Spiderman again."
"Why?"
"I just figured no ones seen him, you, in a while, and maybe they could need it."
"Yeah, sure. I guess I'll go out tonight." Peter said kind of excited. He thought Tony would ban him from being Spiderman for life.An hour later, Peter put his Iron Spider suit on. As soon as it made contact with his skin, he started remembering the last time he had worn it. He remembered that feeling of himself and multiple others dying, and he felt as if he was suffocating. He quickly took the suit off, and caught his breath. He sat on the edge of his breath with his head down, and had silent tears rolling down his face.
A few minutes later, he got up and went to his closet. He moved all his shirts and sweaters out of the way, and grabbed the suit that was in the back. It was his old, kind of new, suit that he had gotten when he fought against Captain America. He slowly moved off all his clothes except his underwear, and put his suit on. He put his mask on, and pushed the spider emblem on his chest and the suit tightened til it was a perfect fit. "Welcome back Peter." A voice scared him. He had forgotten all about Karen.
"Hey Karen." Peter said putting his clothes in a backpack, and putting it on his shoulders. He quickly ran and jumped out of his window. He swung around Queens, waiting for something to come. He saw a small mugging, and quickly stopped it. The women who was being mugged thanked him as he left the scene. "No problem!" He yelled back to her. He continued to swing around, but surprisingly there wasn't much crime happening. He went to the building across from Mr. Delmar's sandwich shop. He changed into his regular clothes and ran across the street to the sandwich shop.
When the door rang, Mr. Delmar looked up, "Mr. Parker?" He asked shocked.
"Yeah it me."
"I haven't seen you in over a year."
"Yeah. Things got a little rough."
"Wow. I hope things are getting better. You want a sandwich?"
"Yeah. The number five with pickles, and can you squish it down real flat? Thanks." Peter ordered while getting two packs of gummy worms. He looked around, and noticed something missing. "Where's Murph?"
"He died about five months ago."
"What?"
"Yeah, He just got sick out of no where, and slowly died."
"That's terrible. I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Anyways, I forgot to ask you. How's your Aunt?"
"Oh. No- no one told y-you?" Peter asked, stammering a little.
"No? What happened? Is she hurt?"
"Our apartment burnt down, and she- she- um- she died." Peter said forcing the tears to stay in his eyes.
"Oh. I am so sorry, kid. How long has it been?"
"Nine days."
"Geez. That's awful."
"Yeah. Well I got to go. It was nice catching up." Peter said waving bye and leaving, running back to the alley and putting his suit on. He climbed up to the building and sat on the fire escape. He ate his sandwich, and then he smelled smoke and heard screaming. There was a fire. "Karen, what's happening?"
"There appears to be a fire. According to the Queens Police Department files, this is the fourth fire this month. They believe there is a serial arsonist that has been setting fires since, well, since your Aunt's apartment." Peter came to a halt. How was he just now hearing about this? Someone had intentionally set the fire that killed his aunt. He felt a sudden anger flare up throughout his entire body. He quickly continued his path to the fire.
People started cheering when they saw their good ole friendly, neighborhood Spiderman. Peter ignored the praise the crowd was giving him, and asked everyone if anyone was in there. An elderly woman said that her husband was in there. Peter quickly made his way in, and went to the floor the woman had said. He heard a grunt, and saw that the man was trapped under a fallen wall. He quickly made his way to him, and started to lift the wall. When he got the wall 5 inches off the floor, he told the man to slide out from under it. When the man got out from under it, Peter dropped the wall and picked up the man, and got him out of the building. He handed the man over to the paramedics, and swung away.
When he got home, he quickly asked Karen to use her baby monitor protocol to scan the people in the crowd for criminal backgrounds specifically in arson. He pictured what he was going to do to this guy when he found out who it was.
