The next morning, Tony and Peter went to visit Bartholomew Jones. Tony didn't want to, but Peter had a good point for why they should. "Tony, her dad made her go stand by apartment buildings. Don't you want to know why? I know I do."
"Okay. We'll go under one circumstance."
"What?"
"You need to keep it cool. I know he's partly responsible for May, but you need to keep that head of yours clear. Okay?"
"Yes sir." They left in Tony's most low-key car. They didn't want to stand out too much. Tony even followed all the traffic laws. When they arrived, they knocked, and Bartholomew curiously let them in.
"What seems to be the problem Mr. Stark, and what shall I call you?"
"Peter."
"Mr. Jones we found your daughter outside Midtown Tech yesterday, and she claims that you told her to stand outside apartment buildings, so she can try and control her powers." Tony said getting straight to the point.
"How dare she throw me under the bus like that. I never told her to do it. She came up with that decision all on her own." Mr. Jones said almost convincingly sad and betrayed.
"Are you sure?" Tony asked.
"Yeah. She don't even feel guilty about it. I was in the process of getting her-"
"Don't finish that sentence. Everything you're saying is absolute bull crap." Peter interrupted. Tony and Mr. Jones both looked at Peter. Mr. Jones looked at him angrily as if saying never interrupt me again. Tony looked at Peter with a worried face that said you need to calm down before you go off. Peter ignores both of their looks. "Mr. Jones are you aware that Angelica, you know your daughter, cuts herself for every life taken in a fire caused by her because of your selfishness. You can try and tell us that it's all a show, and that she's lying, but I looked into her eyes and I saw a scared little girl who had her innocence taken away because of you. Wow funny isn't it? Because of you a lot of terrible crap has happened." Peter said holding every single part of him back before he did something he'd regret. Mr. Jones looked dumbfounded.
"Look. I'm sorry about making her go near apartment buildings. I just thought if there were risks of people dying she might be able to control herself. Then people kept on dying, and she told me she didn't want to, but I told her that eventually her strong will would help her control her powers and spare peoples lives."
"I guess you came to your senses last night." Peter said.
"What do you mean?" Mr. Jones asked.
"Sending her to the school. No one was there." Peter said.
"Actually she was. A friend of Hers, Michelle Jones texted her to see if she wanted to study at the school library. I saw it and figured if it was her friend's life at stake that she'd be able to control her powers." Peter got up and ran away from the house he was in. The fact that Mr. Jones would even risk MJ's life made him angry beyond words. The fact at how calmly he explained the situation, like there was no risk at all made him physically feel sick. He ran until he reached MJ's house. He knocked and waited for her to open the door.
When she opened the door, she looked shocked to see Peter. "Peter, what are you doing here?" She asked before she noticed how pale he looked. "Oh my gosh. Are you okay? Here come and sit down." She said grabbing his hand, and leading him to the couch where they both sat down. "What happened?" Peter didn't answer, but Michelle just sat patiently and waited for him to explain.
"Bathroom?" Was all peter could get out as he ran towards the door she pointed at. She could here him gagging, and went inside and kneeled down beside him, and started rubbing his back. When he was finished retching, she helped him up, and led him back to the couch where she forced him to lay down. She went and got him some medicine, water, and oyster crackers. Her mom always gave her the same thing when she was sick. She took his temperature, and he surprisingly didn't have one. His forehead wasn't burning up either. Whatever this sickness was it wasn't physical. Something bad happened that made him feel uneasy. She didn't question him though, instead she told him to get rest. When his eyelids finally closed, she called Tony to let him know what had happened. Tony thanked her for the information, and then he told her that he'd let him stay there all day, and would pick him up in the morning.
MJ cleaned up around the house to keep herself occupied. Her dad wouldn't be here because he was with his new girlfriend in Tennessee, and as for her mom, she's at the Queens Memorial Cemetery. She died when MJ was only 4 years old of heart failure, and her dad barely knows she exists. That's why she became an outsider and just kind of became her own person. She was deep in thought when she was snapped out of it by a whimper. "Mr. Stark... I don't feel so good. I don't- I don't know what's happening. Save me. Save me. I don't want to go, sir please, I don't want to go, I don't want to go. I'm sorry." Peter was crying and he sounded so scared. She lightly touched him and softly asked him to wake up. Peter shot up breathing heavily, and shaking violently. Michelle grabbed a hold of him "You're okay. You're okay. It was just a dream."
"It wasn't a dream though. It was a memory." Peter said barely audible. Michelle was confused. She had heard every bit of his whimpering. From what it sounded like, he was begging for his life.
"Peter what happened to you that was so bad?"
