[five ; the pain]

"WHAT WERE YOU DOING IN the sports equipment room? and a-are you crying?" he questions bluntly, noticing her tear stained cheeks and the rosy tint around her eyes. she quickly wipes away her tears, feeling embarrassed to have him see her in such a state. her hands were still trembling from the incident.
"n-no i'm not." she stutters.
"it's fine if you were scared, don't be embarrassed."
"i'm not embarrassed, just-" he reaches to hold her cheeks in his palms, turning her face side to side as he looks over her bruises, frowning at the injury.

"it doesn't look like the bruises are going away any sooner. does it still hurt?"
he asks out of concern and her face turns scarlet red, blushing under his touch.
"um you don't have to-"
"you're cheeks are burning, are you feeling okay?" her heart was palpitating, every single heart beat she could hear so clearly and she hoped it didn't reach his ears. she shook away her disconcert.
"well i managed to escape the room i was locked in, of course i'm heating up from the-"
he once again interjects her sentence, "are my hands helping you cool down?" he smirks and she ignores his smug smile.

she reaches for his hands and presses it down on her face, "yea it's cold. my face feels so hot, it's nice."
he keeps his hands on her face, gently cupping her cheeks as she closes her eyes and let's out a breath to relax. his touch was comforting and she was already forgetting about getting locked in school.
"you're not getting a fever right? you don't look too good." he asks anxious, his mind reminding him of her hopeless and helpless body defending against 3 older and sturdy men. he bites his bottom lip whilst observing her injuries, "it must've been painful."
"i'm fine. this feels nice." she hums, enjoying the cool touch of his hands against her flushed cheeks.

it wasn't until she realised that she was getting too comfortable around him that she immediately backed away, even more embarrassed then before. he simply pouts from the heat disappearing from his hands.
"umm sorry for that. i wasn't thinking and you were probably uncomfortable and-"
he chuckles, enjoying the sight of her babbling self as she tries to reason with him.
"don't laugh, i'm embarrassed as it is." she huffs, crossing her arms over her chest.
"don't worry, i was the one that acted first, i should be apologising alright?" he reassures her and she smiles.

"anyways, why were you locked in there?" hyunjin points to the sports shed and a wry expression makes it's way on her face. she explains what happened and why she was in the gym in the first place.
"-the lights suddenly went out and i was somehow dragged inside the shed trying to look for you-"
"why were you looking for me?" he interrupts and she straightens her posture, remembering her task from the beginning.

"oh yea. i meant to ask you about yesterday." he nodded allowing her to continue, "can you not tell anyone about it? especially about myung hee because she'll think i'm betraying her and-"
"well she did betray you. why shouldn't people know what she's really like? why can't i tell people?"
his voice was stern, holding no emotion to his face.
"well they don't need to know and it's not your place to talk."
"but she left you, that's not okay. you're injuries could've been worse, or you could've been kidnapped." he says, emphasising every word so he could get her to understand the gravity of the situation she potentially could've been in. he didn't care about myung hee's feelings at this point.

"i know but please stop telling people about it, i don't want myung hee to get upset."
"but weren't you upset when she left you? honestly-"
hei ryung almost raises her voice, her fists clenches as he highlights the fact that myung hee ditched her, "stop mentioning her leaving me-" he continues to interject, "but she did leave you. it's selfish. the situation could've been so much worse and you're acting like this is just some school drama. how can you be so calm around-" her hand reaches to her forehead, rubbing her temples to alleviate the headache beginning to surface. she didn't know how to feel about her friend at the moment and she didn't want to talk about it any further.
"please stop."

he takes notice of her eyes darkening at the mention of myung hee, her expression smothered in stress and anxiety whilst holding back a grimace.
he realised his words were too impudent and his features began to soften, sympathising for her.
"fine, you come with me for dinner and i'll drop the whole argument."
she raises an eyebrow at him, "really? when? you mean now?" he nods innocently, unaware of how sudden his invitation was.
she hesitates before answering, "f-fine. you better keep your side of the deal." he grins and pulls her along with him by the wrist and out of the gym.

"w-wait!" she stops him from running any further.
"what is it?"
"you..smell of sweat. go change first!"
he smirks, opening his arms to welcome her in his sweaty embrace.
"come here, hei ryunggggg!"
