貳拾壹

[twenty two ; the basement]

HYUNJIN WAKES UP TO the constant clicking sound of a camera. his vision blurry and his eyes stinging from the sudden white lights that continues to flash directly in his view as they slowly peel open.

"..hei...ryung?" he utters instinctively, unbeknownst as to why the name slips as soon as he wakes up. that name, was adding pain to his already throbbing head and even thinking about who that name belonged to hurt more. he wasn't able to grasp his situation at all. his eyes were still adjusting to the dimly lit room once the camera stopped flashing and he hadn't noticed that he was in fact, lying on a sheet of white paper. he could barely lift his head off the ground due to the limited amount of energy and lack of strength.

"o-ow", he yelps, realizing not only was he due at the hospital for possible concussion and déjà vu, but also for the abrasions formed around his wrists and ankles from being tied by thick rope. "what's happened..?"
"ughh don't ever say that name in front of me again." a girls voice appears from the darkness.

the unidentified voice triggered a myriad of memories that aided his brain to recollect how he had gotten himself into such unfortunate events. the last thing he remembered was a masked figure opening the trunk to stuff a cloth contaminated with chloroform into his face.

"why are you doing this? you can't achieve anything!" hyunjin desperately yells as if he could rationalize with his stalker. he seemed to be in a basement, there was a camera stand in front of him, no doors or windows were in sight and the wall to his left had photos of him whether he was at school, sleeping in his old apartment, eating out or with hei ryung. it was such a cliché but that didn't minimise his current fear at all. beads of sweat were running down the side of his face, he found it harder to breathe as his eyes sought out the identity of his stalker but he knew he had to keep a straight face. now was not the time to show weakness.

"achieve anything? i have you now, don't i?" the shadows were still covering her face but from the neck down she was exposed. her pale forearms were scratched overwhelmingly, hyunjin had noticed her long natural fingernails were the cause of that. she wore an oversized t-shirt with black jeans and no shoes.

"if i hadn't taken you sooner, who knows what that bitch could've done? she's a manipulator hyunjin, making you sympathise her is her best shot at grabbing your attention. the night you protected her from those men and took her to the hospital...couldn't you tell? it was a trick and you fell for it!"

the more she spoke hyunjin had finally realized who the perpetrator was, but what frightened him more was that the stalker had been watching him long before he had met hei ryung.

"y-you were there?"
"of course i was. now it's time i show you how much i love you." nearing towards him, his guess was right. she had an excessive amount of makeup on which had rather added to his nausea once her was face was given light to. her hair was tied in a bun and the scent of her perfume was far too inordinate, the fragrance was causing a migraine to form.

"don't come near me!" he rolled away, struggling to loosen his knots until he reached the wall and that's when he heard hei rung, screaming at the top of her lungs in the room above him.
"hei-hei ryung? what have you done to her?!" his vision was improving by the second and he had just noticed a small table to his right. there were locks of his hair crammed in a sealed plastic bag, some of his missing jumpers, an earring of his and plenty more belongings he thought he had lost for awhile now.

"i thought i said not to say her name," she growled, "and who cares about her? you have me, the only person you'll come to love from now on."
