We are halfway through our second movie and I decide to stretch my legs. I sit up and head over to my back yard. It’s quite small, so I sit on the patio and keep slowly drinking the bottle in my hand. I hear the kitchen door open and close behind me.

“You alright Lils?”  I hear Luke’s voice echo around the dark garden.

“I’m alright you alright?” I ask him as he sits down beside me.

“I’m okay,”

We sit in a comfortable silence for a few moments.

“Do you miss me?” He asks me out of the blue.

“What?”

“Do you miss me? All the little things? Like falling asleep next to me? Or our days out?”

“Luke please stop I-“

“Lily you said this was a break and whenever I bring up anything to do with us you change the subject,”

“Luke I really don’t know,”

“To be quite honest Lily it feels like I spend most of my time waiting around for you,”

“Well I’m sorry I’m so difficult,” I am beginning to get annoyed.

“Lily please give me another chance,”

“Can we please leave it for a bit longer I can’t-”

I am interrupted my Luke’s hand grazing my cheek, his eyes piercing into mine.

“Luk-”

“Shut up Lily,” He whispers, still staring at me.

“Luke your stare is so intimidating,” I laugh nervously.

He cuts off my laugh my gently pressing his lips to mine.

“Please Lily,” He whispers, pulling away slightly.

“No Luke you can’t fix this by kissing me,” I whisper.

He sighs and stands up. I follow him back into the kitchen and sit back in my place next to Ashton, but this time Luke sits on the other side of me.

It’s near the end of the movie when I see him moving around in the corner of my eye. He sees me staring so I quickly look away. When I look at him again he is staring at the screen, biting his lip. I feel his hand moving around, and it finally finds mine, trying to hold it. It cradles my hand for a moment and I freeze as he starts stroking my thumb. He tries to hold it, but I move mine away from him. He groans and stands up.

“I’m leaving,” He states before leaving the room.

“Mate do you have a lift?” Ashton shouts but he is cut off by Luke slamming the front door.

“What’s wrong with him?” Calum asks. The three boys all look at me.

“Long story,” I mutter.

“We have time,” Michael says quickly.

I briefly explain to them how Luke keeps making moves and I’m not ready to get back with him.

“Lily I completely respect all that, but I honestly think he is sorry, and I have never seen him look not anyone the way he looks at you,” Calum says carefully.

“Well even if that’s true, you guys are going on tour so soon, there’s like no point,” I explain.

“I guess,” Michael shrugs.

The next morning is my first day back at school. My alarm clock goes off and I immediately feel like shit. I am in the middle of putting my shoes on when the door goes off. I hop over to the door, seeing as I am the only one in the house, and see Luke leaning against the doorframe.

“What are you doing here?” I ask him, confused.

“I thought you might want some company walking to school,” He shrugs.

“Luke you dropped out of school and you still get up at half 7?”

“I don’t mind,” He smiles.

I grab my bag and we head out of the door. I get my phone out and he pulls earphones out of his pocket. I plug them in and we share one ear each. He grabs my phone off me and shuffles my music.

“Justin? Really Lils?” He gives me a weird look.

“It’s a good song,” I laugh, as Mistletoe comes blasting through my ears.

“It’s October,” He laughs.

“When do you guys leave?” I ask him.

“January 5th,” He gives me a sad smile “You’ll be fine,”

“Bullshit, it’s gonna be awful,” I sigh.

“It will be over before you know it,”

“Luke you are gone almost a year,”

He throws his arms around my shoulder and I immediately tense.

“Why did you just tense?”

“What?”

“When I put my arm around you,”

“I don’t know,”

He sighs and shuffles my phone again. American Idiot comes on and he immediately looks over to me and grins, pausing the song. He reaches over and takes my bag from my arm, dropping it on the pavement. He smirks at me as I stare at him in confusion, before he pulls out the earphones out of my phone. He plays it again, blasting in in the middle of the street.

Luke rocks out across the street, slamming on an imaginary guitar. I can’t do anything for a while as I am so caught up laughing, but when I calm down I join him, jumping across the road. When the song finishes we are both panting and laughing our heads off.

“We are such rejects,” He grins, linking his arm with mine as we continue walking towards school.

“Speak for yourself,”

“Because you’re the coolest kid around,”

“Maybe I am,”

“What even is cool?”

“In our school, either being on the football team or a fake bitch,”

“True,”

“I know,”

“I’m going to miss you so much,”

“I’ll miss you too Luke,”

We stop outside the school and he just stares at me.

“Luke this is school not an airport, you’re not leaving for three months,”

He doesn’t say anything, just draws me into a big hug.

“Luke the bell just went, I have to go,” I say against his chest, trying to wiggle out of his grip.

“Don’t go,” He mumbles into my hair.

“Luke I’m serious my teacher is going to kill me,”

He sighs and releases me. I quickly smile at him and head into the school, not turning back because I know he is still stood there, staring at me.
