We find the exit onto the street through the crowds of people and onto the deserted road. Luke wraps his arm round my waist as we walk and my head lies on his shoulder as we wander around town.  We eventually come to the place where we both knew we were heading, although neither of us mentioned it, the beach.

There are a few crowds on the beach seeing as it is New Year’s Eve but we walk down to where it is completely deserted.

We sit on the sand and stare out of the sea, running our fingers through the smooth sand.

“What time is it?” He asks me.

“No idea, do you have your phone?”

“Nope,”

“So technically we have no idea what year it is,”

“That’s weird,” He grins.

We fall back into a comfortable silence until I feel his hand stroke my cheek.

“Lily?”

“Yeah?”

“Because we’re on a beach and it’s New Year’s, can I kiss you?”

“Aren’t we meant to wait until midnight?” I smirk at him.

“Fuck it” He breathes, before slowly closing the gap between us. We kiss for ages, but softly.

“Hey Lily guess what,” He pulls away for a moment.

“What?”

“I haven’t showered since last year,” He cheesily grins.

I roll out of bed with a horrible feeling and it takes me a few minutes to remember why. Today is he day of the boys leaving for other half a year. I quickly get dressed and do my best to look nice, seeing as I want the boys to remember me as slightly decent. It is very early so I grab my running trainers and sprint over to Luke’s house, as nobody can give me a lift.

I quietly grab the spare key from under the mat and open the door, careful not to wake his family. I tiptoe upstairs and open his bedroom door, to see him sprawled across his bed only wearing boxers, his penguin thing next to his head.

I climb into his bed and wrap my arms around him, and he quickly stirs.

“Lily what are you doing? What time is it?” He croaks.

“Like 4am,” I sheepishly grin.

“When is Ash picking me up?”

He gives me a weird look.

“I wanted to spend time with you!” I blush.

“Fair enough,” He grins, burying his head into my shoulder and closing his eyes.

We both fall asleep for about an hour, our bodies tangled, when there is a knock at the door.

“Luke you still need to pac- Lily! Did you spend the night?”

Embarrassed, I sit up and scoot away from a sleepy Luke.

“Oh no I got here about an hour ago,” I quickly explain.

She quickly excuses herself and Luke pulls be back next to him.

“Luke you need to pack” I glare at him. He groans loudly and sits up, ruffling his messy hair. He grabs a tshirt and throws it over his head, before starting to throw his clothes into his bags. I don’t bother telling him to fold them, he won’t listen.
