Swimmer Boy (Book 1)

Chapter 3 ~ Iwatobi High School

"Haru just pick one. They all look the same." I exasperated. Haru was staring down at his bed where four swim shorts lay. They all look exactly the same! How can he not see that?!

"I'll pick these." He said, picking up a pair. "Now get out."

"I still don't see why you have to wear swim shorts under your clothes." I said. "Like I know you love swimming and all but don't you think that's a little extreme?"

"No." He said like it was completely normal and pushed me out of the room. I sighed.

"I'll be outside when you're ready!" I called to him. I walked out and was greeted by the sight of Makoto petting a kitten. How cute. He then noticed me.

"Oh, hey, Sakura." He smile a sweet smile at me.

"Hey." I smiled back.

"Where's Haru?" He asked.

"Picking out swim shorts that look exactly the same." I rubbed my temples. He sighed, too.

"That's sounds about right." He said. Haru then came out of the house.

"Are you ready now?" I asked him.

"Be quiet." He said.

"Make me." I giggled and started walking, the other two trailing behind me.

"So, Sakura, are you excited for your first day back at Iwatobi?" Makoto asked me.

"Oh, yeah, I'm super excited!" I said. "I'm glad that I can be with you all again. Except... I really wish we could all be together with Rin, too."

"Yeah..." Makoto commented, sadly.

"Don't mention him." Haruka plainly, almost harshly, said. I was a bit surprised.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Just don't." He said and walked ahead of me and Makoto.

"Is he alright?" I asked Makoto.

"I'm honestly not sure." He said. "It's best just to give him a little bit of space when it comes to Rin I guess." I nodded and we continued our way to school.

Time skip

When we got to the school I was really happy to find out that I was in the same class as Haru and Makoto, room 2-1. Nagisa, Rei and Kou were all first years so they weren't there. Our teacher was a lady named Mrs. Amakata. She seemed really sweet and had me introduce myself in front of everybody. The school day went really good and Iwatobi brought back a lot of memories.

Once the day was over it was time for swim club practice. I personally had never been too interested in swimming, so being co-manager worked out just fine for me. Makoto was captain, Haru was vice captain, Rei was secretary, Nagisa was treasurer and Mrs. Amakata was the supervisor. However, when we got there I was a bit surprised at something.

"So you're telling me that one of our SWIMMING club members can't SWIM?" I asked, shocked and confused.

"Rei used to be on the track and field team, he only recently joined the swim team." Makoto said.

"But if we want to be ready for the district tournament, you have to master swimming in one week." Kou said. One week?!

"But that's impossible!" Rei defended.

"You won't be able to complete your training then!" Kou said and held up a piece of paper with his training regiment. Rei sighed in defeat.

Let's get training then.
