Fae's P.O.V

"You're coming over!!"

"I can't Vivian, if she found out that I went out, she'll do something crazy. What if she stopped letting me come to school." I said.

"Fae, she would not do that." Vivian pouted her red full lips. "I have the perfect dress picked out for you. How come your not allowed to do normal high school things! Come on Fae?!" She whined.

Normal? My life was far from normal. I rolled my eyes, a habit that I had picked up from Vivian. "I can't. End of Story." My smile faltered at the possible consequences that I would face if she found out that I went to a dance. I tried to not think about it so I directed the conversation to Vivian, "Did you pick out your dress?"

"Of course, blush pink, mom said it makes my waist look super slim." She talked on about the dress as we walked to class. I tucked my hair out of my denim jacket, and looked at Vivian's outfit today. She had her long honey colored hair curled today, compared to my average length brownish-black hair. She wore white jeans, which looked amazing against her beach vacation tan, paired with a light blue top, and heeled sandals. Obviously not appropriate for the chilly weather. I wore my regular, a white full sleeve, black jeans, my faded, slightly over-sized, blue denim jacket, finalized with beat up white Stan Smiths. I felt like I just rolled out of bed, compared to Vivian who looked like she walked out of a Vogue catalog. The bell rang, we shut our lockers and walked to French class together. I slowed down my strides to hers. She was gorgeous and curvy in all the right places. She was shorter than me, at 5.5". I, one the other hand had no little to no curves and stood at 5.8" and had an athletic build from the year round sports I did. I looked in one of the display cases at my dark messy hair, that made my already pale face look even more pale. I wondered everyday why she chose me to be her friend when she had half the girls at the school asking her to hang out. But we were complete opposites, Vivian into fashion and acting, all I had was academics and sports. We clicked in elementary school and since then we have been inseparable.

We walked into French class as soon as the bell rang, I sat down towards the back of the class and opened to the class lesson. Class went by really quick, I did not notice when the bell rang. As I started to gather my stuff, the teacher handed out the previous test. I saw the A as soon as it landed on my desk. I stuffed the exam into my backpack not bothering to look at the comments. I slung my backpack over my back and saw Vivian hustling towards me. She squealed as soon as she got close to me.

"Chad asked me to homecoming! CHAD! Omg, omg omg! Also, I got an frickin D on the Exam, dad and mom are not going to be happy about this, tutor me?". She said without taking a breath, then battered her eyelashes. She changed her playful mood when I rolled my eyes.

"Let me tell you the details about Chad!" She squealed again in excitement.

I smiled nodding in return. "Vivian, gym starts in literally 2 minutes. Can we walk and talk?" I said somewhat interested in the conversation I know was about to hear. We walked to gym, and she talked on about the shoes she would need to get to match her dress. At Long River High School gym class allowed its students to pick whatever activity they excelled at, or whatever they felt like working on. Long River was an extremely preppy and wealthy town, the high school started at 9th grade until 11th grade, then students would either be pulled out if failing or move to expensive prep academies to finish off schooling until the age of 21. Most people after that would go straight to work for their parent's top tier companies. Just thinking of the future made me start it develop a headache.

I opted to swim, as swim season was going to start in the spring, and it would get my mind off things. I pulled on the one-piece speedo in the locker room, as Vivian still was talking while changing into her volleyball gear. "Ok I'll see you after school." I said. Vivian would change and go to her next class after gym, and I would hit the showers, and go to advanced calculus.
