CHAPTER 28: DESTROYED

Fae's P.O.V.

"Ouch!" My eyes flew open as I felt solid ground beneath me.

I open my eyes taking my surroundings in. I was on solid earth, ok. My ankle and entire body was burning. There was for sure something broke, most of my clothes were torn or covered in mud. I moved my sore body slowly, almost falling back to the grounds.

I felt hot tears stream down my face. What happened in the last 24 hours. My body was shaking, who were these men, who was Asher? Could I trust Hayden? My entire world was falling apart. I looked up and all I saw was trees and a steep hill above me, where I had fallen from, and miraculously survived. I needed to get out of here, if they tried to come after me again.

I got up, lugging my injured arm and leg down the path of the woods. I heard car sounds in the distance not too far from here was the highway.

I stopped. Words screaming inside my head.

"You do not have anyone, or anywhere to turn to. Your mother is dead by now. You friends are gone. And that stupid boyfriends of yours is worthless."

Your mother is dead. Your mother is dead. Your mother is dead.

No.

She couldn't be. Panic coursed through my body. I need...what do I do?

I tried so hard, years, days, minutes, seconds. I did everything to help her. She couldn't have died. My only family that existed. She was all that I had left.

I forgot my pain and ran as fast as my injuries would let me. I got to the highway quickly, it was empty. Walking along the side, I dragged myself quickly, so I could get there fast.

Hayden's P.O.V.

I dropped to the sofa, clutching my head.

Why?

Why was it always dead ends with her? I could smell her scent in Asher's apartment.

I wanted to hold her close, forget everything, all her hurts, her pains, her demons. I want her. No, I need her.

But, she didn't want me. Fae hates me. I ruined everything between us. She would never take me back.

I never imagined, ever, being hung up on a girl. Fae was different. She was my oxygen, my life, my everything. I would do anything to get her back. I felt water in my cheeks. She couldn't be gone.

"We kissed."

I looked up as anger flared inside me.

"She doesn't fucking love you. She was loving the money, the fame, and everything you gave her. She told me that she was done. She's worthless, Hayden, you're my brother, I wouldn't lie to you. She kissed me and told me she didn't love you."

"Stop! Please... just stop." I said in defeat. It was time to let go.

Fae's P.O.V.

My eyes heavy, I felt like the world was going to collapse on me. I walked down the street where I had lived the first few years of my life. Nothing but regret filled me.

My eyes flickered to the house. My breath caught, it was broken in, the windows smashed, the door off its hinges. My heartbeat rang in my ears, as I dreaded what I was going to see next.
