Fae's P.O.V

The substitute teacher handed out multiple worksheets to work on. I started doing them when my mind kept wavering to where Hayden was going. That guy that looked like him, were they relate or friends? I let my mind wander when the bell rang signaling the end of the day. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and walked out of the nearly empty class room. I didn't want to bring my duffle bag home, so I pulled out my toiletries and clothing necessities and stuffed them into my backpack.

I was going to walk to the parking lot, when I reminded myself that Vivian was busy today. I decided to walk as it hadn't started raining yet, though the dark clouds started rolling in. I walked the few miles it took to get home. I started walking slowly as soon as I reached mile number 3, dreading to set foot in the house. By the time I reached the front of the house my spine was aching. I opened the unlocked door. The house immediately reeked of alcohol. I flinched when I heard a door close, my reflex kicking in. I paused at the bottom of the steps.

My eyes opened wide when mom walked down the stairs in nothing but a robe with a guy trailing behind her. He was tan with dark hair. He looked scrawny and stoned. My heart fell. She was fucking another man while high. Feeling sick, I glanced away.

"Sweetie your home. How was work." She cooed in her smokers' voice.

She didn't even notice that I was gone or even at school. "Fine." I muttered.

"This is my daughter, Farrah. Meet John." She slurred.

I thought my heart couldn't sink any lower. Drunk and she didn't know my name. I nodded as a hi and went into the kitchen. I looked at the dishes and bottles that were piled up. Disgusted I spotted blunts smashed on the counter. The house use to be so beautiful and clean until Dad left. Everything was broken and trashed, from the countless parties, and people always coming and going.

I was about to turn away when I felt something smack me across the face. I clutched my burning cheek immediately.

It was her. "Why do you always ruin my life. Why can't you be happy for me. You whore, go fuck whoever you were fucking. Don't come home ever again. I don't need you. Disgusting. I wish I never had you!" She screamed at me.

I felt like a car ran over me. I couldn't breathe I was choking on air. I moved quickly from her. I was running out the door flinging it open not bothering to close it. I didn't want to think. I kept running until I couldn't feel my legs. My backpack felt heavy on my back and my cheek burned from the cold air. I kept waking on my numb feet. I didn't know where I was going but I didn't care, I could never go back there again. I let the words that mom said to me run through my head again and again like a record on repeat. I looked up at the sky and noticed it was raining.

I gripped the steering wheel as hard as I could, letting my anger out into the car. I speed slightly over the speed limit in anger. While keeping one hand on the wheel I tore at the tie that my father made me put on last minute for the family dinner. What family? Mom had brought Noah, my little brother, which caused Dad to ask for custody of him. Mom refused, and they started arguing. Asher my twin, left, not wanting to deal with the drama. Then Mom told Dad that she was going to sue him for cheating on her.

Dad brushed her off and made me leave. He thought he could make my decisions for me, tell where to be and what to do. I told him that I didn't want to see him and left driving back in my car. I stopped in front of my house and rested my head on the steering wheel, letting my head cool. Dad wouldn't be home tonight or maybe not even for a couple days. I took a deep breath and opened the door to pouring rain. Locking the Mercedes door behind me I started to bolt for the door when I saw her.
