Fae's P.O.V.

I woke up with a jerk to a dark room and voices coming from outside. In a daze, I tried to get up, but pain shot through my lower half. I couldn't lift myself. Panic filled me. What was happening? Where am I?

The door opened, and light spilled across the bed, it wasn't a familiar bed. White sheets and drab colors, I was in a hospital. I squinted trying to let my eyes adjust to my surroundings.

My eyes moved to the person at the door. It was him. My supposed-to-be dead father. Damon.

"Your awake Fate." He said in his monotone voice, not giving off any emotions. He sat down stiffly in the chair next to my bed.

"Looks like hell does really exist." I murmured.

"Looks like your mouth has gotten sharper in the last 10 years ago." He retorted, with a stern face. "How have you been?" He asked.

"You left a seven-year-old, with a bi-polar, abusive, alcoholic mother. I've never been better. How about you?"

"I understand the circumstances...were not the best but...".

I cut him off as anger radiated inside me, "Circumstances? She told me you were dead because of me, I was nearly beat to death every day, I lost my friends, my entire life, she...". Memories flooded, hitting me like a hammer.

"I...I killed her. Oh my god." I looked at my hands, they were no longer covered in her blood. I remembered her cold stare holding the gun to my heart. I had lifted the gun in defense, when she tried to kill him. She was going to kill him, then me. "I'm a murder." Tears flooded down my cheeks.

"Fate, you did what was best for that animal. Now I have pressing issues to take care of. You will get over what happen, if you want to survive in this world. Ashton will explain your options." He said getting up from the chair next to my bed.

My eyes snapped up to his face, Asher? He left, without a word like he had 10 years ago. The door swung open, as Asher came in wearing all black. The dim lights highlighting his high cheekbones, sharp jaw, and grey eyes. Eyes that I had trusted hours ago. Eyes identical to the brother I had fallen in love with.

"Fae." He said my name like he was desperate.

I tried to sit up, I had been perched on my elbows while talking to Damon. Pain flared through me, as I gritted my teeth.

"Don't move to much or your stiches will open. The bullet luckily grazed the outer layers of your skin. She shot you when you shot her. Your father...".

"He's not my Father." I said cutting him off, sitting up with a pillow tucked behind me. He didn't flinch or move, his hands behind his back, face emotionless.

"Mr. Pierce is taking you into his care. Which mean you are going to take his business soon as his heir, after your training that is."

"Business? Training?" What the fuck was he talking about.

"Yes, of Pierce Enterprises & Co. You will train to become the next CEO, reintroduced to the world as Fate Pierce."

I flinched when he called my name harshly. My father had named me Fate while my mother wanted me to be called Fae. Mom used to call me Fae her fairy of fate. Damon being the only one to ever call me Fae. "I won't. I can't. Hayden and Vivian." I whispered. I couldn't lie about my identity, or leave to become some stupid CEO.

Asher scoffed. "Vivian hates you because of your mother."

I flinched at his honesty. "I'm not leaving Hayden." I said. He was my lifeline, I needed him.

"You will, because your mother was the whore who broke our family apart, Fae. She slept with my father for money, by convincing him. When Hayden hears it, do you think he'll even want to talk to you?'

My breath caught. His words running through my head. Hayden would...he would absolutely hate me. I had already lost everything I had. I understood Asher's cold behavior now. How did he know that my mother slept with his Father? She really did ruin everything for me. I closed my eyes, letting a tear fall. Remembering his blonde hair, gorgeous smile, rosy lips, breath-taking body, lovely words. Everything; he was my everything.

"I will make sure that he finds out if you do not agree." Asher said leaning close to me. "If you agree, he'll never find out."

"How did you find out?" I whispered.

"A few days ago, your father approached me. Of course, I agreed to help him find you. I wanted revenge, on the whore who ruined my family."

"Why revenge against me? Asher..." I sobbed out.

"My dear Fae. I wanted your mother dead, you were the one who pulled the trigger. Collateral damage as some would say."

I shook my head at the horrid side of Asher I was seeing. I wanted Hayden, his touch, his warmth, he would make everything better. But I couldn't, this was my only way out, and I had to take it.

I opened my eyes when I felt the bed dip in. Asher sat with his hand brushing tears away. "It's your only option Fae, Hayden will find out sooner or later. You can get away from everything. If you stay, the murder will be put on you. You pulled that trigger, and she's dead. "Do you think anyone will trust or believe you? This is your chance to get away from the slum life you have been living, your only chance. The last chance."

"Hayden." I choked out.

"I'll handle him angel. He won't come after you, I'll make sure of it. You deserve a better life, and this is your out. Whether it be the money or lifestyle, you can't go back to Long River. Your father is offering an out, take it. Please, Angel."

I closed my eyes. I had made my decision as Fate Pierce.
