"Are you OK, Aurora," Sam's mom asked.
"Yeah, I just can't be around loud noises without earplugs or until my ears get better," I said.
"Well, you know that we will help anyway we can," Sam's dad said.
"Yeah I do," I replied.
"Mom, dad, Aurora is going to stay the night with us," Sam said.
"Does her mom know?" Sam's mom asked.
"Yes, she does," I said.
The rest of the trip was us talking about Sam's yarn collection and how long he has been collecting them. When we pulled into Sam's driveway the brakes made a loud squeaking noise. I immediately hunched over holding my ears in pain. Sam knew he couldn't do anything but he put his hand on my back and started rubbing it.
When we stopped Sam helped me out of the vehicle. I let go of my ears and grabbed his arm. We went inside the all too familiar house and went towards Sam's room. Sam grabbed his doorknob and turned towards me with a smile.
"Please excuse the mess," he said and opened the door showing a clean room with a messy desk.
"What mess?" I asked.
"That one," Sam said pointing at his desk.
"Sam you never were organized when it came to homework and the such," I said.
"I know but still," he said.
"OK, I'm still curious about your yarn collection," I said.
"Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. Can you sit on the bed while I go get them?" he asked heading to his closet.
"Sure, just hurry up," I said playfully.
Sam pulled out a decent sized box and carried it to the his bed on the same side I was sitting on. He lifted the lid and I immediately became entranced with all the colors. Sam pulled them out and organized them by color and shade. When he was done I saw that he was missing 1 color.
"Sam you know what color your missing, right?" I asked him.
"Yeah, it's coral, your favorite color," he said.
"I have that color at my house," I said.
"I know, I gave it to you for your birthday last year," Sam said.
"Was it part of your collection?" I asked.
"Yeah but the whole collection is for you," Sam said.
"Why do you say that?" I asked.
"Because I started this collection so you wouldn't be bored at my house," Sam said hiding the real reason.
I turned around and hugged him. He put his right hand on his left shoulder quickly. I accidentally hugged him too hard on his left shoulder.
"Sorry," I said.
"Your fine, I was expecting it," Sam said with a smile and hugged me back.
I was blushing when he pulled back. I knew I loved him since third grade. That was 6 years ago. We have helped each other so much that no one can change how we felt about the other.
"You're blushing," Sam said.
"I'm embarrassed," I said hiding my love.
"Why? There is no reason to be embarrassed," Sam said.
"Yes there is. I don't have anything to give you," I said.
"You don't have to give me anything," Sam said.
I scooted closer to him and made sure he was looking at me. I put my arms around his neck and pulled him down enough that our heads were lined up. I moved closer to his face and kissed him on the lips. When I pulled away he was blushing.
"You're blushing," I said without realizing that I was too.
"So are you," Sam said with a smile.
Sam pulled me close again and kissed me back. This time we both held the kiss. I don't know why but I had a feeling that Sam liked me the same way I liked him.
"Sam, do you like me?" I asked.
"Of course I do, that's what friends are for," Sam said.
"That's not what I meant," I said.
"Aurora, I don't like you because I love you," Sam said.
My eyes grew brighter than the sun. I was so happy I didn't know how to respond. So I just put my head on Sam's shoulder.
"I love you too, Sam. I have since our fateful encounter in third grade," I said.
Sam's older brother walked in and saw us. We had to explain ourselves to him. Sam's brother's name is Rowan. Rowan is OCD and can see through objects.
"So, Aurora, how long are you expected to stay?" Rowan asked.
"I don't know yet," I said.
"Rowan, don't you have chores or something," Sam said harshly.
"I saw what you 2 were doing," Rowan said with a devilish grin.
"Leave," Sam said warningly.
"Nah, I think I'll make sure you don't try anything on her," Rowan said devilishly.
"Get out now," Sam said annoyed.
"No, I said exactly what I'm going to do," Rowan said.
"Please don't get loud," I begged them.
"Listen to your lady friend, bro," Rowan mocked.
"That's it you crossed the line," Sam said raising his voice.
I quickly searched for my earplugs but I couldn't find them.  Sam hit Rowan into the dresser knocking over and breaking a glass bottle. I fell to the floor in pain. The other 2 kept fighting and didn't stop until Sam trip over me.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry," Sam said realizing that I was in pain.
" look what you did, Sam," Rowan said.
"Rowan, shut up and get out," Sam said comforting me as I cried on the floor.
Rowan stayed for a minute and left after their mom came upstairs. She rushed in and gave me my earplugs. Sam laid my second favorite color of yarn in front of me and I immediately became entranced. My pain went away after cuddling with Sam and playing with yarn.
"Are you OK?" Sam asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine now," I said.
"Are you 2 going to be OK?" Sam's mom asked..
"Yeah, just keep Rowan away from using we'll be fine," Sam said.
With that Sam's mom left us alone. Sam pulled my face close to his and kissed me again. We talked for about another hour before it was time for bed.
I was going to sleep on the floor like I normally do at Sam's house but before I laid down Sam pulled me into his bed. Every time I tried to get off he wouldn't let me. So I curled up into a ball and slept with my head against his chest.
