My Little One

Brothers Pact

It had been a month now. Yugi and Heba saw each other in the mornings but not very often from there. Yugi had been very obedient and hadn't had to be punished yet. Heba had been the same so he could convince Yami to let him see Yugi more. As of now, Yami had come to speak with Atem last night so Heba and Yugi were in the small room and talking. The room had a single bed, a small wardrobe and a bedside table. 

"Brother, I'm scared." Heba whispers to Yugi and Yugi's confused. "I want to tell them...you feel it too, right?" Heba asks and Yugi sighs before looking down.

"I know, but we can't be sure they won't kill us." Yugi admits sadly and Heba sighs. "I mean...we're powerful, sure, but the Pharaoh...he could kill us, Heba!" Yugi warns and Heba grips Yugi's arms.

"If something happens, we have to protect them." Heba admits and Yugi touches his side, where a permanant scar lies because he saved the prince and healed quickly. "I don't want them to fear who we are, Yugi, but you can't be afraid of them anymore." Heba tells him and he closes his eyes.

"Besides, the Red Moon is coming and we can't hide it throughout that week." Yugi admits and then covers his eyes. "We'll tell them, ok? But if we're put to death...I'll say it now. I love you, big brother." Yugi weeps and Heba hugs him close.

"We won't be put to death." Heba whispers as they hear something outside and Heba grips Yugi tighter and Yugi clings to him.  "Don't worry so much little brother." Heba advises and they lie down and Yugi falls asleep in Heba's embrace as Heba glares at the door. 

When Yugi wakes up, Heba's still glaring at the door and Yugi shifts a little, notifying Heba that he's awake and Heba sits up, causing Yugi to do the same and he then notices Yami staring at them. 

"Why are you two sharing a bed?" Yami asks and Yugi subconsciously grips Heba's waist tighter. "Are you a couple?" He asks and moves closer before Heba shakes his head. 

"We won't tell you a thing!" Heba spits and Yami frowns before walking closer and Atem enters, then catches Yami's arm and Yugi is held closer by Heba. "We have our own problems to deal with, so please don't jump to conclusions like that..." Heba lowers his voice and calms down, but still holds Yugi close. 

"Yami, they just fell asleep. We did too." Atem admits and rubs his eyes. "They were probably talking and fell asleep." Atem confirms to Yami, who shakes his head. 

"When I came in, they were asleep, embracing each other." Yami points out and the two smaller boys stand up. "Strangers don't do that." Yami admits as Yugi looks to Atem pleadingly and Heba looks at Yami for forgiveness. 

"Just leave them, Yami. Remember the ball today? We have to go and get our royal outfits ready." Atem reminds and Yami blows out a breath before beckoning Heba over and Yugi pushes Heba forward when he doesn't go. 

"Come. You're to stay by my side today." Yami tells him and leads Heba out as Atem approaches Yugi and kneels in front of him. 

"Sorry about him. Why not tell him you and Heba are brothers?" Atem asks and Yugi swallows. 

"I-It's tricky." Yugi stutters and Atem smiles, then leads him out. 

"If that's what you tell me, I won't pester you about it." Atem tells him as he heads towards the dining room with Yugi in tow. "But do tell me at some point, won't you?" He asks and Yugi nods, then lowers his head. 

As they sit down, Karim is still glaring at Yugi but Atem notices now. Atem gives him a warning look but Karim keeps glaring  Yugi as Yugi now glares back. 

"Karim." Atem addresses and Karim looks to him quickly. "Stop glaring at my slave." Atem warns and Yugi takes a bite out of his apple at last. 

"Your slave was glaring at me, your highness." Karim responds and all the priests look at Yugi. "I take it he isn't allowed to glare at me, your highness." Karim suggests and Atem stops eating. 

"My slave is allowed to do what he likes unless I order him to stop doing it." Atem responds and Yugi looks at Heba discreetly, who looks a little pale. "Don't start with me, Karim." Atem snaps, standing up as Yugi gets what's known as a premonition. 

Premonition 

Atem sits back down and takes a bite of  food before a dart is thrown and he falls down in his chair as Karim smirks. 

Yugi tenses and turns to see Atem sitting down and reaching for some chicken. Karim already has a smirk on his face as a dart flies towards Atem, but Yugi stands and it hits his side, causing him to bleed rather heavily and he pulls the dart out and Atem looks over as Yugi rubs his side and throws the dart back where it came from, knocking out the assassin instead of killing her. Aknankanon is shocked and Atem sees Yugi's bleeding.
