Alysa had given me the most beautiful dress this year for my birthday. I was just about to go over to her house to thank her, but my mom and dad got to me first.
"Are you all dressed and ready to go?" Mom asked me with a huge smile.
"Oh yes." I said."I am" I had almost forgotten all about the surprise they had promised me.
"Well, then let's go." Said my dad.
They were taking me all the way into the city, I had never been to an actual big city before and once we drove past the Welcome To Cove Valley California Sign, I myself, began to get excited.
"Omg. Are we actually going to Las Angeles." I began to exclaim as we came into streets with all these huge buildings around them. Is this what a city was like? I thought to myself, I have only ever before seen a city in photos and educational books. Man, and the city looked huge, as if it went on forever. My mom and dad soon stopped at a mall, and it was a big mall too.
"First." Said my mom. "We are going shopping." She had always wanted to take me properly shopping at a mall before, but dad always forbid it. He was afraid of me going anywhere even if I was with my mom. I am not really sure why. On the outside I looked just like every one else. Ad even though I had fallen from the sky, I didn't feel any different either.
So we all happily went shopping for clothes and many other small things for an hour or so. After that we ate lunch at the most amazing taco shop ever, and then back to the car we went. I figured that was all we were going to do, or maybe go site seeing on our way home or something. But what the real surprise hadn't even happened yet.
Our next stop in the city was a car lot. It was specifically a Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep, car lot. Once we pulled in and stopped my dad turned around, looked at me, and sighed, "Well this is it. This is the big day, Star."
"Wow, mom and dad, are we really getting a new car, I have been waiting forever for y'all to finally get rid of that old orange minivan of y'alls." I giggled. Bit my dad's smile turned grim.
"We Are not getting rid of old Mary." He said seriously. (Thats the nickname for the van.) "You are the one getting a new car, not us." He said and his smile was coming back.
I just sat there for a second trying to register it all. I never thought, well I had just assumed...But then it hit me. This is really happening... I am getting my own vehicle!
"Omg." I said twice. Then we all jumped out of the car. My dad then told me I could pick out any car off the lot, and as long as it was a Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge, I could have it. Why? Well because he use to be a car mechanic for them and those brands were the ones he knew most about.
I looked and looked decisively at so many cars that day, but for some reason my eyes kept glancing towards two different vehicles, a Dodge Challenger, and a Big Dodge Ram Truck. The Challenger, was solid black. But man, was it pretty and the inside... Wow. I had never in my life seen such amazing technology. I hoped I could figure it all out.
The Dodge Truck, was Dark Red. And I thought to myself, Man, I might look good in a truck and besides it looked safer and much bigger than the challenger. But I didnt like the red as much as the black. Oh, it was such a hard choice.
But in the end of it all, I chose the dark red, Dodge Ram Truck. I know what you are thinking, but I had my reasons, and my dad would have had a heart attack for sure if I had chosen the challenger.
"Are you sure you can afford this." I asked as we waited patiently but also for ever in the sale's man's room inside the lobby.
"Star, do not worry about the money. We have been saVing for years for this moment." That relieved me. I knew in the back of my head we had enough money to afford it but my parents had never been the type of people to flaunt it off, for Goodness sakes, my father minivan is like ten years old and he loves that thing.
It was late, all most 8pm, by the time we finished up at the dealership. I felt worn out and for some reason my back began to hurt so bad. I was relieved to be actually going home. My mom drive us back in the car and dad drove behind us in the new truck. He still had to teach me how to drive, so I myself couldn't drive it anywhere just yet.
My mom could tell I was exhausted so she let me sleep all the way home. We finally got home around ten, because it had been a two hour drive, and when my mom woke me up, I realized suddenly I was in unbearable pain.
"Mom! Dad!" I yelled, ad I tried to get myself up and out of the car.
They both ran to me, "Star. Star? What is wrong?"
"I can't move, I can not stand straight up. Its my back... Oh!" I began to scream..." Something... Is Wrong..." Was all the words I could manage to come out of my mouth.
"Ahhh...." I just began to scream over and over again, I felt like I was going to die. I shut my eyes and began to feel as if i was going to faint and then suddenly in an instant, I felt okay again. As if the pain had just gone away in the blink of an eye.
I then, slowly arose from my position, took my hands of my knees, and arose straight up. Confused I opened up my eyes and was staring at my parents. Who were staring back at me as if they were in shock, maybe even terrified.
"The pain, it just went away. I don't understand..." I began to muster but my father stopped me and actually he interrupted me.
"Star...will you turn around please." My dad said almost trembling.
I just stared at back at them, what was up with them, I then, turned around as they had asked.
Then all I heard was my mom shriek.
It sort of scared me. So I turned my head around towards my back and saw them. Two Angel Wings coming out of my back. I stretched them out, which actually made my back feel better. And then I fainted in shock.
