"Hello? Earth to Gwen! Are you even listening?"
"Huh?", Gwen looked up from her tablet. She'd been watching a video online about the latest fan theories for her favorite book series, "Magic Daydreamers". The host was rambling on about a ridiculous theory about time travel and weirdly, a cactus.
She brushed her curly red hair out of her face and met the icy glare of her friend Cassie. Her arms were crossed and she was shaking her head disapprovingly.
"I swear you are such a space case!", Cassie said as she leaned down and snatched the tablet off the bed where Gwen was sitting.
"Hey!", Gwen complained, "I was watching that!"
Cassie rolled her eyes, "It's bad enough you have every piece of merchandise ever made," she made a broad sweeping motion around the room, " But do you really need to watch this garbage too? I mean what does time travel have to do with magic anyways?"
Gwen scowled. "Nothing, it's jus-"
"Never mind!", Cassie interrupted, "I need your advice. Should I go to the dance with Dave or Luke?"
"Erm," If Gwen was perfectly honest she'd never really understood the whole boy crazy thing. Sure she'd had crushes but never head-over-heels-going-to-die-if-he-doesn't-like-me-back type of crush. Cassie had a new one each week. "Who do you like more?"
Cassie's eyes widened dramatically. "Both of course! I mean Luke is most definitely cuter! But Dave is like a super athlete you know? Well you wouldn't know, but still."
"So go with Dave," Gwen said getting a little irritated with her friend. She was itching to get back to her video.
"Your right. I'm going to go with Dave." She smiled as if Gwen has just solved world hunger.
Gwen rolled her eyes, reached up and snatched the tablet out from Cassie's hand. She really needed to know about that time traveling cactus.
