Gwen had never believed in the saying love at first sight. It always seemed like a ridiculous notion, like the earth is flat or the moon is made out of cheese, but here she stood questioning every single thing she had believed to be true. Everything.
The girl was sitting on the swing, head tilted all the way back staring straight up, almost as if she was searching for something in the sky.
Bright blonde hair tumbled towards the ground so long it was in danger of falling in a mud puddle. She was wearing black ankle boots, deep blood red leggings and some sort of blank t-shirt with a logo Gwen couldn't quite make out.
Gwen thought about turning around and leaving right then and there, but something about this mystery girl made her move nervously towards the swing next to her.
At the sounds of the chains chinking together next to her, the girl turned her head ever so slightly to look at Gwen.
"Hi. Clouds. Rainbow." She said and turned her head so she was looking straight up again.
Gwen tilted her head upwards and sure enough there was a beautiful rainbow bursting through the clouds.
Apparently the universe had a sense of humor.
Suddenly the girl sat up rather quickly, lost her balance and fell forward, onto the grass, barely missing the mud puddle.
"Are you okay?", Gwen asked slightly alarmed.
"Huh? Oh, uh yeah. I'm kind of a klutz haha." She laughed awkwardly. "So anyways, do you go to Filmore high? I'm starting there Monday. Oh, sorry! My names Indie and I...am making a fool of myself." Indie trailed off turning slightly red.
Gwen blinked a couple of times and tried to gather her thoughts. This girl, Indie was so beautiful it almost physically hurt to look at her, which made Gwen even more confused.
"Um yeah I do. Freshman. I'm Gwen." She was only vaguely aware of what she was saying. Gwen was preoccupied by trying to figure out what color eyes Indie had. They were green, but emerald? Jade? Maybe even a slight teal?
Indie's eyes lit up, definitely emerald. "Cool! I'm a freshman too. Maybe we'll have some classes together!", She chirped excitedly. Her voice was high and nervous, Gwen could sympathize with her.
"Well," Gwen began, " I could show you around school on Monday. If you want." Gwen added hastily.
"Okay sounds good! Be nice to know at least one person. Err, should we exchange numbers?"
Gwen smiled, "Sure."
