Do I Find You in Everything, or Everything in You?

I ask, "Is this what it feels like to be alive?"

"No," you say. "This is what it feels like to die."

I spent the day in the rain -

My own, and dreaming of it -

And the water droplets falling from the sky came down to accompany me on this slow trek of hours ticking by and school bells ringing on the dot.

Gravel on my legs.

Your skin smells of roses.

Your hands slip from mine like silk.

The sky smells like honeysuckle

And I reminisce of the days when I was home.

The curved dirt mountain roads,

Big horned sheep...

Capricorn.

Your eyes are the color of the sky's horizon meeting the oceans waves -

Full of emotion, but calm either way.

I wonder if we'll be any more than just a phase.

The way you look at me.

Are you sure this is it?

You want just this?

Whenever your hand touches mine.

"Is this what it feels like to be alive? I don't think I want to die."
