Josh places his hand over the bruise on Tyler's thigh, "I'm sorry I hurt you."

"It's okay."

It's quiet for a few moments until Tyler speaks up again, "H-hey, Josh?"

"Mhm?"

"Um, do you think you'd want to meet my parents? It's okay if not, it's just that I'm going home for Thanksgiving and I don't want to go alone. I know we still have a few weeks but I thought it was best to ask in advance."

Josh nods, "I'd love to meet your parents."

Tyler smiles slightly, "Okay."

Thanksgiving Day couldn't have come any slower. He just wanted it to be over with and it felt like the days took their precious time strolling by.

Tyler's grip on the steering wheel is tight as he and Josh make the three hour drive to their hometown of Columbus. He's nervous. He hasn't seen or really spoken to his parents since Easter. He isn't sure why he invited Josh, if he's being honest. Maybe he felt like Josh could protect him if something went wrong. But since it's Josh's first time meeting them, would he even do anything or try to keep peace for his boyfriend's sake?

"Josh," he says quietly.

"Yeah, baby?"

"There's something you should know about my parents before you meet them. Well my dad mostly."

"Okay."

"He isn't exactly the gentlest person. You'll see that I definitely get my softness from my mom. They're both pretty strict though just in different types of situations. They do it out of love, but it's too much sometimes. Even as an adult, they're still strict over the things I do. My dad wanted a perfect son, and out of his three sons, he's got two of them plus a daughter."

"So which one is the imperfect son?" Josh smirks at his boyfriend.

Tyler glances at Josh but doesn't smile, "Me."

"You're perfect to me," Josh says, softly taking Tyler's right hand off the steering wheel and intertwining their fingers on the center console.

Tyler blushes, but he keeps his eyes trained on the road in front of him. "Thanks," he whispers. "But that's not good enough for my dad. Nothing I do is good enough for my dad."

Josh kisses the back of Tyler's hand, "It'll be okay. If he says anything, I'll be there to defend you. 'Cause I know you, I know how hard you work whether he sees it or not."

Glancing at Josh, Tyler finally gives a soft smile before looking back at the road, "Thanks, Joshie."

"No problem, baby. I'll be there the whole time."
