Tyler sits in the library in S Wing. Books and papers spread out messily organized on the table in front of him, his second cup of coffee almost empty. He sighs heavily and glances toward the clock on the wall.

11:34 p.m.

The research paper he's writing is kicking his ass, but it has to be done. He writes a few more words before looking at the empty chairs surrounding him. The library closes at midnight for students, and Tyler is usually the last one there almost every night. He didn't fail a single class in grade school. He was a decent student who has never gotten below a B- since preschool, and he didn't plan on that changing in college.

He notices a couple of people packing their things to leave, but Tyler is far from being finished. He sighs again and turns back to his paper. After a few more minutes, he hears the door click shut and somebody whistling coming closer to him. He looks at the clock to make sure they aren't closing and gets confused when he sees that it's only been five minutes since he last looked.

He jumps slightly when the chair two down from him on his right is being pulled out and a bag is set down on the table. He looks up at the new arrival and takes in his appearance. He has blonde hair, a nose ring, stretched earlobes, and-from what Tyler could see of it-a tattoo on his right arm. He's wearing ripped jeans, black Vans, and a white t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. The strange man turns his head to look at Tyler and nods politely, the whistling sound continuing to leave his mouth.

Turning back to his work, Tyler can hardly focus anymore with the new distraction. The whistling stops, making Tyler let out a silent breath of relief. He begins writing again when the whistling starts up again. He sighs in annoyance, but the man doesn't seem to notice or care if he did.

"Could you stop that, please?" Tyler asks kindly.

The guy looks at him. His lips are still pursed, but the noise stops.

"Thank you."

Tyler works in silence again. His eyes shut as the man turns toward him and says, "What's your name?"

Tyler just wanted to get his paper done. He huffs, "Tyler."

"Tyler what?" The guy rolls closer to him.

"Tyler Joseph."

"Tyler Joseph. Nice to meet you. I'm Josh Dun."

"Hi," Tyler says bluntly.

"What are you working on?"

"Research paper."

"Whose class?"

"Richards."

"Oh, I liked him."

"He's alright," Tyler shrugs. "I don't think he likes me."

"Probably not. He doesn't like anybody."

"Why did you like him then?"

"'Cause he was an asshole. I'm an asshole. Perfect match."

"Hm."

"You don't seem like an asshole."

Tyler shrugs again.

"Okay. Maybe a little bit."

"I'm not."

"Your attitude says otherwise, baby boy."

"Don't call me that," Tyler states looking at Josh annoyedly.

Josh smirks, "Sorry, babe."

Tyler rolls his eyes and chooses to just work on his assignment.

"So, what're you doing here so late?"

The brunette sighs, "Working."

"That's boring."

"Yeah, well, I have to do it."

"Let's go do something fun."

"I'm working," Tyler repeats, beginning to get angry.

"Let's go after you're finished then."

Tyler huffs and turns to look at the clock above Josh's head, "The library closes in ten minutes. I'm going to bed when I'm finished. Plus, I don't even know you."

"Sassy, baby boy."

Tyler turns back to his work, "I don't like being bothered while I'm working. And don't call me that."

"Am I bothering you?" Josh asks, feigning innocence.

"Yeah, you are, actually," Tyler replies, giving Josh a sarcastic sweet smile.

"Aw, I'm sorry, sweetheart."

Tyler doesn't reply but turns back to his paper.

Josh speaks up again, "Are you a freshman?"

Tyler sits up straight and begins to pack his stuff away, "Why are you here? You're obviously not working. What? Did you just see me here and decide to annoy me?"

Josh holds his arms up in surrender, "Not trying to annoy you. Just thought you could use the company."

"Well, thanks, but I don't need the company. Especially not yours." Tyler stands up and slips his bag over his shoulders.

"You never answered my question, babe," Josh points out.

"Oh my god," Tyler says. "Yeah, I'm a freshman. Why does it matter?"

"'Cause nobody-nobody I know anyway-cares about their grades as much as first-year students."

"What are you?"

"Second-year."

"You don't care about your grades?"

"I care, just not as much as you."

"What are you studying?"

"Music."

"...Me too."

Josh smiles, "It's kinda boring, ain't it?"

Tyler shrugs and looks down, his finger playing with the straps of his bag. "Maybe a little," he mumbles. "But that's only because I know most of this stuff. But that also doesn't mean I'm not gonna try. So don't distract me."

Josh smirks in amusement as Tyler turns and walks away.
