A/N: I'm so happy that the story is getting more reads :> only four more days until my entrance results are out.
"Okay Dae-Hyun. First question and if you feel uncomfortable with it, you can just tell me to pass." Jimin sees Jungkook setting down a recorder on the stand, where they'll cover up the whole conversation the clearest. His fingers fumble with the small button until the small light shines up red - a sign that the recorder is on.
The room is quiet, only the steady beeps from the heartbeat vector machine and the soft clicking outside is heard.
"Do you usually go out with Chin-Hwa?" Jungkook's tone softens, it sounds relaxing but his eyes still behold that stern look. Jimin guesses that it'll have an effect on the tanned man's answers. Jin is holding Dae-Hyun's hand and Jimin is sitting on the side in front of Jungkook.
"I don't usually go out with him these days," Dae-Hyun says, his eyes foggy and he's softly caressing his hand. "However we used to get wasted at bars when we were young."
Jungkook sees a pained, broken smile forming on Dae-Hyun's lips. "Ah~ Those good ol' days, when we were just spending the night with blondies and brunettes, nose filled with the scent of drugs and sweat and our mouths sting of alcohol. Those were the moments when I knew about Chin-Hwa the most... He was the keystone of the company so stressed, he would take me out and drink, digging a hole and burry the stress in, that's for the both of us..."
"What made him stop then?" Jungkook scribbles something in his notes, continue to ask while Jin rubs his thumb on the back of his hand and Jimin looks at him encouragingly.
"He... found out "new clubs"..." Dae-Hyun looks down at his hands, paled, bony and on an IV. He lifts one of his hands up to wipe off the tears threatening to fall in his eyes. Jimin gives him a warm hug and whispers comforting words in his ear to deaden the sobs.
Jungkook waits for a few moments of silent, guessing that he's inferring the "underground clubs" and he decides to take a step further though noting the tentative manner of Dae-Hyun.
"Do you know about them?" Jungkook tries to ask about it again to break the silence filling up the room, it's dead quiet, a far cry from the crowded atmosphere before.
"Chin-Hwa never told me about it."
Jungkook receives the signal from Jimin to move onto the next question considering his behaviors. Jungkook replies with a subtle nod.
"Do you know any friends of his? Someone he's close?" Jungkook asks, rubbing his hands.
Dae-Hyun looks at him some how relieved. "Besides me, he haven't introduced me to anyone... I've seen girls fawning upon him since he's the next heir and probably about to come into a big, no... enormous fortune."
"Do you remember any of them?" Jimin furrows his eyebrows, suspicion boiling in the pit of his stomach and he feels the sweat from Dae-Hyun's hands he's holding, Jin letting go of Dae-Hyun's grip to see the man willingly let Jimin reassure him.
Dae-Hyun furrows his eyebrows after Jimin, recollecting his thoughts. "No, he doesn't." That answer is like a gallon of iced water putting out the fire of hope burning in Jimin's chest. He feels hopeless, it's all the end and those minutes they spent here are useless and finally they would have to move to suspect after suspect, using only the evidences at the crime scene...
Suddenly, Dae-Hyun shoots up, his moss green eyes glistening in the noon light. "But I know some one who can help you with this!"
Jungkook feels a spark finally in the black hole of the case. Finally a fucking ray of hope.
"Can I have his information?" Jungkook smiles and grips his favorite pen, ready to write down any necessities and taking notes, he feels like he's back in those days where he's still a newbie in his department, it feels great to be back in those days. Sometimes.
"No it's not a he, it's a she.." Dae-Hyun looks at Jungkook, he breathes shakily and continues. "She's not one of the sluts who were always fawning him but she's the one who introduced him to the "new pubs"...
Jisoo, Kim Jisoo.
"How the fuck can a bartender at my workplace can be a person who introduced the victim to a fucking shady pub!?" Jimin shouts and rubs his pink hair in frustration as Jungkook drives him to the police department, also enjoying some lunch which is on Namjoon today.
"How should I know?" Jungkook rolls his eyes, his voice sounds annoyed. "It's just a coincidence, who knew that your club could be so fucking messed up! Before, it's you - a dancer who's a low-key drug dealer and now Jichu, Jiso... Whatever she is... A bartender who knows the underground world!?"
"Hey, her name is Jisoo and it comes as a surprise to me too!" Jimin says in ultimate astonishment. When Dae-Hyun says her name, Jimin stands up abruptly which shocks everyone, including him. It doesn't matter if Jisoo is moved to jail or if she's a mafia since she knows some underground stuff or she's somewhat close to Jimin but she is an employee of Hoseok of course and that would cause him trouble. Jimin of course doesn't want that to happen either.
"Well, we would have to find out about it sooner or later so it's no use arguing or being frustrated over it, Jimin..." Jungkook looks over at the pink-haired boy when they're at the red light. Jimin looks at Jungkook a moment and opens his mouth to say something while the bunny boy waits but he decides to close his mouth, that leaves a frustrated Jungkook and he continues to focus on the road when the street lights turn to green. "Besides, you're working there tonight, aren't you?"
"Well yeah, if you want, come with me and I'll help you find Jisoo, she's the most noticeable but the bar is hard to see so.." Jimin shrugs nonchalantly, half wanting Jungkook to come and half not, since he's going to distract him from working.
"Of course I'm going to come, Mochi." Jungkook smirks , glancing at him from the corner of his eyes to see the boy blushing at the name and in all attempts hiding it by looking at the window next to him.
"Y-yeah..." Jimin mentally curses himself for stuttering, that'll only let Jungkook know that he's totally whipped for him. He mustn't let Jungkook manipulate him, he knows he's a cop and himself is no more than a dancer, leaving alone the "prostitute" impression on Jungkook. Though both of them has clarified it to each other but Jimin can't help but feeling so little (it's true that he's a smoldering bean but can't help it though) and so wrong about this companionship they're having. Jimin wishes that there would be more but maybe that'll only increase his chances of hurting himself more, after all these years.
It's sad, knowing the friendship is only temporary and after this, there would be no one left for Jimin to feel hate and love at the same time, no one to take him in car trips, no one adventuring with him and of course...
No one having that familiar, cocky bunny smile for him to eye-smile with.
