Jungkook notices he has been pretty much less sarcastic than usual.
However, he couldn't stop his thoughts from flooding in when they are facing nothing more than an abandoned building, with moss and dust casted over the monochrome walls. He stops for a short while scanning the soundless place, with cracked doors and broken windows, shreds of glass protrude from the sills radiate a more haunting atmosphere than it originally looks.
"Hey, I know this sounds a bit weird," Jimin while locking their hands together and effortlessly drags a dazed Jungkook into an alleyway which is lit by the weak source of a flickery light bulb.
"Can you climb?"
"What?" Jungkook, as if had already been snapped out of his thoughts, retorts with a question, still feeling unbelievable of what Jimin has just asked him when his eyes catch a glimpse of a metal ladder stacked up against the wall. He looks at Jimin with questions flying in his head, not having the faintest idea of what the older planning to do. "Wha- Where are we going?"
"Let me get this quick," Jimin, finally untangling their fingers, which makes Jungkook feel a bit lost - surprised by his longing for a foreign touch and his eyes take in Jimin's small frame, hands on his small hips. "Our destination is up there."
"Up.. There?"
Jimin nods.
"What are you- You think that this is so funny that you're going to trick me up there so that you can push me down?" Jungkook scoffs, he folds his hands stubbornly while he absorbs Jimin's distorted face, biting back a laugh. He huffs out in fake annoyance, half wanting to give into Jimin's offer because curiosity and half not: He does find Jimin's expressions amusing and he doesn't want to completely trust him just yet. To his mind, he has let enough people in. They come and go but the ones that leave always give him a scar. Jimin is a colleague of his and he knows too well that after this, both of them will revert back to being complete strangers, abandoning every memory and feelings they felt while wrecking the case.
Yet Jungkook doesn't know what he's doing is a shovel digging deeper in the pit of mixed feelings they're both having.
"Well, whatever suits you then." Jimin shrugs and Jungkook can hear a distant crack laced in Jimin's voice, he turns to look at his almost pained expression before having realized that the older is sad, almost giving up on talking him into checking what's on the top of that building. Jimin is sad because of him. And all this time, his efforts trying to make him happy were turned down and collapsed into pebbles just because of Jungkook's being a moody little shit. He couldn't fully comprehend it though, but he felt foreign, as if the soul that's been living inside him had changed or rather, his soul was revived.
And all of this is caused by Jimin, only Jimin.
So before his mind was clearly out of fog, his hands were already clutching the chilled rusty metal bar and slowly lifting his body up, folding his legs as he quietly follows the older up. The clanking of soda cans accompany them and the wind rubs their almost sore eyes. Rusty metal heard rough underneath their clumped feet when they were halfway up the building. Jungkook notices Jimin would occasionally check behind him, with his bed of pink hair laced with autumn wind, softly playing with it. Bouncing and peacefully flowing in the breeze. And while Jungkook is busy checking out Jimin's amusing mop of fluffy cotton candy, the older would catch him red-handed and smiles cheekily at him.
Jungkook can see Jimin's petite blackish purple silhouette climbing up the edge of the building. That makes Jungkook fasten his pace, not wanting to lose or making Jimin wait any longer. He can see his eagerness to bring the younger up here a while ago and it unselfconsciously morphs into encouragement to push Jungkook's body up and grasp the small hand, reaching out in front of his eyes.
The moment he and Jimin finally makes it up the top, Jungkook can't believe in his eyes.
The scenery is breathtakingly scenic with the horizon painted a mixture between violet and magenta, seamlessly blend with the pitch black of the stilled darkness in the early morning hours. Jungkook didn't know waking up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed like this that he could witness such a beauty never found in anywhere else. From afar, small blotches of tangerine dotting the buildings but faint enough not to blind the two from taking the blinking stars above.
"Do you like it?" Jungkook snaps out of his thoughts and glances over to see Jimin sitting down, his legs dangling down the edge of the building, his bag of soda cans are seated between him and Jimin, creating a small gap. Jungkook looks at Jimin, awe-struck, not knowing what to say. He is sure he's speechless but he doesn't know whether Jimin, flush-nosed and fluffy windswept hair, the scene that he's looking that made him like this or it's simply the action of taking him here and cheer him up warms his heart.
"Jungkook?"
Had he wanted to say "yes", he would have done that long ago. However, the answer actions give can always reach the heart faster, knowing an embrace will mean more than just a simple monosyllabic word. So he hugs Jimin. Jungkook doesn't hesitate another second to head behind Jimin and engulf him into a warm embrace, his legs crouched so that they are eye-leveled and his stiff biceps wrapped around the other fragile boy's body, feeling him shiver slightly though clothed in jacket in the bitting-cold air. Jungkook closes his eyes, his black lashes fanning against his cheeks, his plump lips opening slightly, where light puffs of air coming out, his raven hair flowing ever so peacefully in the air. If he were to choose the most peaceful moment in his life, right now would be the perfect answer for not him but maybe both of them. Seeing that Jungkook replies with a sudden action as such, he was startled shortly. However, soon come round to him reaching up and rubbing his clothed arm with his hands. He silently admires the younger's breathtaking beauty, a beauty that the scenery in front of him couldn't outshine.
Both of them sit down not long after, with soda can popping in the stilled background and them blending into the serenity of the vigorous harmony of the faint crack of dawn and the pitch black night. Sitting their soda cans beside them, exchanging subtle glances, never had they felt silence so deafening, filling their ears with untold words and stories, surrounds them in a drumroll of thoughts but eases their hearts reminiscing. "Hey", they both utter spontaneously and so coincidentally that makes them stutter nervously, as if time-machining back to where they were only high school boys making their confess to their crushes but in the end...
Nothing happened.
A/N: I'm still shocked with the disbandment Jin mentioned in their speech, sadly the awards show was while I was still having tests chased up my ass so I can't watch my babies but seeing them cry was so hard to comfort my hearteu for what happens next :'<
Wish my babies courage to overcome whatever that's barricading their journey to success.
Also life update: a fucking mess.
