Early morning: Fallen Angels resistance-Gold's PoV
I opened my eyes weakly, sleep slowly losing its grip on me. I groaned, I preferred the silence of sleep then the hellhole we were currently stuck in. I could feel Jade's face nestled into my chest, then the noise hit my ears.
She was sobbing.
I pulled my arms into a hug around her back, her body weak and tired. "Hey. Hey." I stroked my right hand through her blonde hair. "What wrong?" I asked, in the most gentle voice I could bring up in my sleepy state. She sniffed and sobbed, tears soaking into my shirt. I combed my hand through her hair as gentle as I could, my strength a little unpredictable when I just wake up. She had probably woken up an hour before I did and had started sobbing from there. I patted her gently on the back, trying to comfort her. "G-gold...I-I'm-m scared." Jade sobbed out, head buried into my chest.
"Scared of what?" I asked, whispering in fear of waking up the others.
"Dying. If we die, we're never getting off this island. I-I-I d-don't w-want to die." She stammered, pulling herself close to me.
"Angellica. We won't die. Not on my watch. We'll get off this island, I promise you." I replied, caressing my hand across her weeping face; in an attempt to wipe away her tears. I kissed her on her forehead, before bringing her close to my body. She finally stopped sobbing before kissing me on the cheek. "I love you Jade. I won't let anything to happen to you." I whispered after she kissed me. "I love you too. Gold." She answered, before falling asleep again. (Please someone make art of this scene, it's adorable!) Once she was peacefully asleep, I left the room and walked into the kitchen. Tyrant was sitting in the leather chair at the back of the room, reading a gold embroiled leather bound book. He looked shattered, his tail nervously swishing side to side; he had two bags underneath his eyes. He looked like he didn't get any sleep the night before. He yawned and then looked up when he saw me. "You have a good nights sleep captain?" He asked, slightly sleep deprived. I nodded, pouring two cups of Luke warm tea and handing one of the cups to Tyrant. He nodded his thanks as he sipped his tea. He pointed at the bandages lining across my arms. "They healed yet?" He asked. I shook my head, pulling the bandages off my arms to show three large gashes across my left arm and a bite mark across my right wrist. Both of them were a bright red, they looked slightly infected. I winced in pain as I washed them both in a bucket of water. Tyrant only watched, trying to read his book.
"Hey Captain. You wanna talk?" Tyrant asked.
I nodded. Walking towards him. I sat opposite of him when he put a single box on the table. I opened it to see my dad's wedding ring. A wooden ring with emeralds inlaid into it. He had worn it even after my mum's death
"How did you-" I stuttered before he cut me off.
"Boot sale in O'kallis. Apparently a few guards busted a bunch of grave robbers. This was among the stock." Tyrant started. He looked downwards, rubbing his ring before he spoke again.
"Captain. I'm speak honestly with you. You always look out for us, and we all highly appreciate it, but you need to have time for yourself. You know?"
"What are you talking ab-" I was almost immediately cut off.
"Gold. I'm a half devil just like you. And Smaug, a God of fate and knowledge said that he knows that you're going to die young. If that isn't a big light, I don't know what is. You try to hide your emotions to help the rest of us, but you're hurting yourself in the process. We all want the best for you, we know what you've been through, what you've had to do to defend yourself and if I'm honest with you mate; I would have already broke into two. So go on. Admit it to Jade. All of your darkest secrets, cause she'll understand better then anyone else."
I walked through the near silent halls, hearing the snores and muttering of my team. I'm in charge of them all. I can't let them die, even if it's the last thing I do. We will get off this island. I opened the door to Jade and my room, to see Jade wrapped up in the blanket. I sat next to her, combing my hand through her hair. I grinned like an idiot for a few seconds until I saw her eyes slowly open. I smiled gently as her eyes opened fully.
"Morning beautiful. You sleep well?" I asked, helping her to sit up.
"Mhm. Better with you around." She groaned as she stretched her arms. I smiled until she put a kiss on my nose. I taken by surprise for a moment until I hugged her across the waist, placing a kiss on her forehead. I placed her forehead onto mine. "Thank you Jade." I said.
"What for?" She asked curiously.
"Excepting me as I am. You didn't see the demon as so many had. You saw me as who I was." I pulled out the wooden ring, inlaid with small emeralds and put it into the palm of her opened hand before closing it to the hand. "When this whole war and getting off this island is over....I was thinking...I want...want to settle down." I said looking to the side.
"How come? You seem really happy traveling."Jade asked, putting her hand over mine.
"I'm marked for death. You know that. Smaug said that...he doesn't know how much time I have left...between my heart condition, the dragon berserkers, my suicidal depression and the cultists....death could literally happen any time or any place. Smaug said I may have less then two decades left on my life before something kills me. I wanna have kids. I wanna grow old together, see our kids grow up and have their families. I don't know if I'll die of my own mind or someone's sword, but I want my last years to be with the person I love. And that person is you." I admitted, I pulled down the collar of my shirt to show a stab wound on the right side of my chest that hadn't healed. She gasped, putting her hand over my wound. She then pulled me into a tight hug, slightly sobbing once again. I hugged her back as she cried into my shoulder. "Once this is all over. We'll settle down and see what happens from there. Okay?" She asked.
I could only nod. Hoping that I could keep that promise.
At that point I don't exactly remember what happened next.
