"The fury of a God is a terrible thing. But a Titan dragon....their rage is unspeakable."
-Leonidas

Morning, Island of the dead.
Gold yawned, his arms wrapped around Jade's waist. His chest ached, but he didn't complain. He slowly sat up, chest hurting worst and worst as he did. When he finally he did, he was rubbing his chest constantly and hacking and coughing as he did. The campfire had died down to embers and many of the people had fallen asleep. The jury of wolves had completely fallen asleep, they deserved it. The Knights of the red sun were now patrolling around the camp in the gentle light. If not, everyone else was asleep. He stretched his arms as he shambled over to the dying campfire.
"What are you doing?" Aquilo asked, Gold looked up in surprise.
"Didn't expect you to be up so early."
"Well I am. And you didn't answer my question. What are you doing?"
"Having breakfast. What else?"
"I've heard stories about you, from my mother." Aquilo said, sitting down next to the half devil.
"Oh? A Primordial took notice about me? What she say?" Gold asked as he threw a piece of meat onto the embers.
"You were a terrifying monster with no heart. Just putting it lightly."
"Oh...never mind...."

Gold and Aquilo remained in silence for a few minutes. Gold flipping the meat a few times until he pulled the meat out of the fire. The weak flames burnt his skin, but he didn't really care. Aquilo looked at him concerned.
"Are you not effected by pain?"
"No. I just don't care anymore."
"Why not? Pain is a sign of loss."
"How old are you kid?"
"19. Why?"
"Well. I'm in my early 40s and I've been through some stuff that you'll never believe. I've come close to death so many times I'm not scared. You would never know, you're immortal. But after everything, I don't care what the world throws at me."
Aquilo fell quiet, reflecting on what Gold had said. That he would never truly know pain and suffering as he did, because he was immortal. Immortality was a curse disguised as a gift. As Gold dug into his breakfast Aquilo spoke up.
"What is the closest you've been to death?"
"Umm.....that one time I was stabbed twelve times at once through the chest. That was probably the closest I've ever got. But on this island, correction sh*thole, was when my team and I was holding down Viserion."
"You mean the Viserion? The guardian of Great Britain who blew away the Spanish Armada?"
"Um...I think so....never heard that one...but he did freeze a whole army in place during the divine civil war." Gold replied, taking a bite out of the meat. He was awfully silent for a dragon slayer, Aquilo's mother had always described them as being loud and obnoxious. But this one was the exact opposite of what he thought they would be. After he was done, Gold walked back to Jade and lay down next to her. Aquilo just turned his head, not interested in the lovey stuff that he had accidentally found under his uncle death's bed (take a good guess of what he found. 5 points for the right answer.)

Gold lay down next to Jade, who was rather peaceful in her sleep. No matter how old we grow, she will always be peaceful. Gold let out a quiet sigh, remembering briefly what Alduin had said. His death now will allow the world to continue. Though his death later shall bring the end of the world as we know it. Jesus that much riding on my death? And yet they didn't let me die. I love these guys so much. The dug his face into her hair and breathed in her scent. Then he heard her sobbing. He rolled her over to face him and hugged her close to his chest.
"Jade....Angellica. What's wrong?"
"Momma, papa...don't leave me." Jade muttered, tears streaming down her face. Gold realising she was having a nightmare, the same chronic nightmare she had been having for the years they had been dating. Gold wiped away her tears before slowly waking her up. She opened her eyes, both of them red and puffy from crying.
"Hey beautiful. You okay?" Gold asked, though he already knew the answer to that.
"Y-yeah....I-I'm okay." Jade lied, sniffing constantly through the sentence. Gold shook his head.
"You're lying. You were having that nightmare again, weren't you?" Gold asked.
Jade finally broke down, burying her face into his his chest. Gold patted her back, and kissed her on the check.
"Don't worry. They can't hurt you anymore. You've got me." Gold attempted to comfort her, though he wasn't the best.
"J-just...d-don't leave m-me...promise."
"Jade. You now I can't promise you anything-"
"Just promise." Jade said, sobbing starting to happen again.
Gold hesitated, unsure how to reply to the promise. He just let out a sigh and hugged her close.
"I'll try Jade. I'll try my hardest."
