Jimin loved water parks but for some reason Miso wasn't the most confident person when he suggested the idea of going to one."It will be fun."
"Please Jimin. I'm scared of water rides and you know it."
"Okay. I just wanted you to have fun."
She could see that he was upset. Obviously because he had planned something special.
"I will never push you to do something forcefully, knowing that you don't like it." He just smiled hiding that he was a bit disappointed.
"Thanks for understanding. But if you want to, we can go somewhere else."
"I'll check my schedule and I'll tell you."
He bid her goodbye and left Miso's house. He had planned something special but he would have to do it , maybe in a simple way.
Miso was busy doing her work when she got a message from Jimin.
"Be ready at 6. I'll be there to pick you up."
She was confused because he had never texted or talked to her in a demanding manner. She thought that he was still upset, and so she didn't ask him anything else. As a best friend it was her duty to see that Jiminie wasn't upset or stressed out.
She got ready half an hour before the time Jimin had told he would come. She was excited to meet him but at the same time she felt kind of nervous. She was pacing back and forth in the living room. The television was switched on as she was trying to distract herself while she waited for him.
It was 5 past 6 and she began to ponder about the possibility that he was probably very upset and had decided not to come. She started flipping through channels silently accepting the fact that he was indeed angry, when there was a knock on the door. Her mother didn't know that she was going out so she opened the door to find Jimin smiling widely.
"Hello Jimin. How are you ? Come in."
"Imo, no, thank you. But I'm here to pick Miso."
"Well, dear lady, you must not keep your man waiting."
"Mom! And for your information he was the one who made me wait."
"And I kindly apologise for that. Can we go?" He said while holding out his hand for her.
She took his hand and they went towards his car.
"I'm sorry. My mother has a flawless talent of making things a bit awkward."
"Well, it wasn't awkward at all. You did make me wait."
"By the way where are we going?"
"You'll see."
Jimin switched on the radio and a soft music was playing. It was a beautiful evening and the weather was absolutely perfect. Jimin loved the way the wind blew Miso's hair slightly spreading the fragrance of lavender perfume that she had applied. It was a long drive until she realized that they were going to the Banpo Hangang Park. She didn't exactly know why he wanted to take her to the park that too at night. But she didn't mind because she wanted to enjoy the the Rainbow fountain show. She always wanted to watch it but because of her schedule she was unable. So she didn't complain, seeing that she was getting a chance to watch the show.
They sat on a bench from where they could get the best view of the show."I've always wanted to come here. "
"Then why didn't you tell me before?"
"I didn't want to disturb you. I know how busy you can be at times."
"Yes, I can be busy but I can always take some time out for my best friend."
He hugged her from the side as she placed her head on his shoulders while enjoying the beautiful view of the millions of fountains.
"They're really beautiful."
"Hmm." He just hummed in agreement.
"Miso, I have something to tell you."
She could sense the fear in his voice so she sat up facing him, looking at him with concern. He had turned red due to his nervousness.
"Are you alright?"
She touched his forehead to check if he had a fever. Jimin just laughed at her actions assuring her that he was fine.
"I'm fine. But I need to tell you this, so please hear me out completely."
She nodded as she gestured him to carry on.
He gently took her hands in her, and began opening up the folds of his heart voicing out all his feelings at once.
"It doesn't feel wrong to just share my feelings with you, that I might have trouble sharing with others. And that's why you have been the only person I turned to whenever I had a problem. Be it at school, back in Busan, when they used to make fun of my height, or say that I had interest in contemporary form of dance. Or that time when I was not able to keep up with my dance and academics. Or even that time when people made fun of me of dreaming to become a professional dancer. You always had my back. You were always there to listen to all my problems and give me comfort. But I really don't have any idea if I have been able to give you the same amount of comfort and security that I received from you. I saw you just as my best friend since middle school. But things took a different route for me when I saw that my cute little best friend was not little anymore. She had grown into a beautiful woman, independent and fearless. I found myself trapped in a situation where I contemplated with great difficulty, whether what I was feeling for you, was because I was a friend or maybe because I was falling for you. And as time went on, and we shared most of the time together, I realized that I started to adore and respect you in such a way that had me thinking about the possibility of being together. Yes, I thought thoroughly about how it could break our friendship of so many years. But whenever I thought about the future I could see myself being happy with you. And so , here I am, letting all my emotions flow out, and asking you , Ahn Miso, would you accept my feelings for you?"
Miso wasn't expecting this. She was happy but perplexed insanely at the same time. She just kept looking at him with wide eyes ,thinking the right words and the right sentence to reply to such a beautiful and honest confession, that Jimin was starting to feel that he had taken the ultimate step of ruining his friendship. And as he was preparing to leave, Miso hugged him tightly and startled him. He didn't know what that hug meant but still he returned the embrace. He was scared of letting her go.
"Jimin , you have absolutely no idea how happy I am. She hugged him tightly and continued telling him her feelings.
"I have always been waiting on you but I was....scared. And so I never told you about it. I want nothing else than , to love you and to be loved by you. Because I have been waiting, ever since you said you would be moving to Seoul. Why do you think I came to Seoul? Not because my parents came here, but because I have been following you , Park Jimin. You foolish! You took so long to tell your feelings!"
She started hitting him but he just laughed it off and tried to stop her.
"Yes , I'm foolish. Just because of you!"
She blushed at his words.
"Because you're a bigger fool than me and I'm under your influence. Have you seen your face? Your pink like a strawberry!" He began laughing looking at her flushed face.
"Yah! You were the one who was looking like a big red tomato a while ago."
"Okay okay. Let's just enjoy this moment together and then we'll head home. "
