"Babe, I'm sorry I didn't tell you that me and kim was still married. I totally forgot about her when I was with you"I said to zoya as she was fixing dinner for us. She gave me the silent treatment.
"Zoya"I called her name. She still didn't answer me. I sigh heavily and walk away from the kitchen. I sat on the couch looking at the tv thinking of my next plan. I have to divorce Kimberly so I can marry zoya.
How ima do this though? What can I do? First off, I have to call my priest. Second, drive back to the church where I gotten married with Kimberly. Third, get my papers and call it off with her. But kim still wants her money so I have to give the money up.
"I'm going to bed, check on the chicken in 40 minutes"zoya said. It's to early to go to bed. It's like 7 o'clock.
"Okay"I said. I set the time up for 40 minutes. I walk around the house for a bit. I'm bored as hell. Maybe I should go outside and look out at the stars. I use to do that when I was a little boy.
I exit the house going to the back yard with my blanket and phone so it can tell me when the chicken is done. I laid the blanket down on the grass then laid down looking up at the stars. It was so beautiful out here. I remember the time when my mom took me and Venus out here. And then things got bad.
Flashback
"Mom look at that star. It's blue"I smiled. I was 7 years old atthe time. My sister was 5 years old. We love going outside to the woods and look at nature with our mother. My father hated nature.
"Yes I see. Look at the pink star Venus"my mom said.
"I see momma"Venus said smiling. Just then we all heard the patio door open and slam close.
"Why the fuck are y'all out here!!! Huh"I heard my dad yelled at us. My mom got up from her spotlooking at my dad.
"Vlad, I just wanted them to see the stars" my dad took his fist and punch my mom in the face.
"Daddy no"Venus ran to my mom and bend down to her level. "Mommy"
"Next time, you listen to me"my dad said. I look at his shirt and seen blood all over his shirt. "Zion, come pick up them toys off the floor!!"he yelled while walking back to the house. I ran to my mom and look at her nose. It was all bloody.
"Zion and Venus!!! Come inside now!!!"my dad yelled.
"Go inside"my mom mumble. I ran inside with mysister.
That night, we heard my dad rape my mom. All through the night she cried for god. I felt so bad for her and I want her to be strong. But Ican't help her.
Flashback over
"Zion"I felt someone kick me on the side. I open my eyes seeing zoya holding Zayda who was eating chicken.
"Huh"I said.
"You didn't check the chicken. Half of them are burnt and the other half are good"she said. "Why are you out here?"
"Give me Zayda"I reach for her. She gave me Zayda then laid down on the blanket with me. "Look at the stars Zayda"I pointed.
She made her baby noise and smiled so big. I can tell she liked them. Memories kept flooding my mind. I kept looking back at the patio door thinking my dad will come out and beat me.
"Zion"Zoya touch my hand.
"Yes"I look at her.
"What is wrong with you? You keep looking at the door"
"I'm sorry"I said. "Let's go back inside. It's getting cold"
I grab the blanket and walk to the door. Zoya was right behind me with Zayda.
All I could ever think of was that night. That night he beated my mom and almost killed her. Cause the next morning she didn't wake up till I called the police.
He lied to the cops and said that he wasn't home that night. Threatened me and my mom and sister to lie. So that's how he got away with it.
