I grab the zip line handle, and a boy dressed in black with red tattoos helps me strap in. I look back and Steven gives me a big smile. I smile back, take a deep breath and I brave myself for takeoff. When the boy lets go of me, I'm sailing through the air. It's like I'm flying. I pass building and go through a broken and messed up one. So far, being dauntless is freaking amazing. I see a crowd of dauntless chanting my name. And then I remember to pull to lever! I pull it as fast as I can and stop right before the concrete wall. All the dauntless are cheering and there... Free. Free is what I want to be. Not like the anbnigation, who are sworn to kindness, or Candor that have to tell the truth. Steven lands just a little bit after me. We take hands and walk to our assigned rooms. We end up falling asleep in my room, his arms wrapped around me. This is the life of dauntless. The life I love.
