“Ryan, I'm surprised that you said yes to a horror movie. Last time I tried to get you to watch one with me, you changed my TV settings to where we had to call the cable guy because you forgot what you did and we couldn't get it back.” Brendon laughed. The trio were on there way to the local theatre to see the raging new horror film. Ryan grunted in response to Brendon’s statement. He wasn’t looking forward to this, but he didn’t want to let his boyfriend down even if it was just for a simple movie.

The rest of the drive was silent for the exception of the quiet sound of the radio playing a random station. Every agonizingly slow minute that went by fueled Ryan’s dread to see this movie and made him want to jump out of the moving car.

As soon at the car began slowing down, Ryan’s heart began beating faster and he looked out the window to see the theatre. He let out a heavy sigh and waited for the vehicle to come to a complete stop before he stepped out. The man slowly trailed behind the two more excited men. After getting their tickets, Dallon began walking off towards the room the movie was playing in while Brendon handed Ryan some cash. “Ryan, can you get snacks for all three of us while me and Dallon go find good seats?” he asked. “Yeah, sure.” the other mumbled. Brendon smiled and quickly kissed Ryan’s cheek before running off. Ryan felt slightly better after the kiss, but was still upset.

He got the overpriced snacks and made his way to the assigned theatre. When he walked in he found about 10 other people scattered around the seats. Brendon and Dallon were near the top. Ryan sighed and moved at a snail’s pace to sit with his boyfriend and teacher. “Hey bab- buddy… what took you so long?” Brendon slipped up and almost called him babe, but caught himself before he finished. Dallon luckily didn’t hear it. “Was a long line.” Ryan passed out the snacks and sat down. Brendon was in the middle of the two, so he could secretly hold one of their hands without the other knowing.

The theatre started to get darker and the previews faded out. Ryan’s heart quickened and he looked away from the screen and looked at his hands. The loud music from the startup theme jolted Ryan almost out of his seat. He was so on edge that any sudden movement or loud noise could send him into a state of panic. There was no specific reason as to why Ryan didn’t like horror movies. He was never fond of them and he tried his best to stay away from scary things. They didn’t mix well with him. Brendon took notice and grabbed Ryan’s hand, squeezing it firmly.

The scared man decided to close his eyes and take a nap. He began to rest his head on Brendon’s shoulder instinctively, but he gently pushed Ryan off. “Don’t get too close to me. Just keep holding my hand. I don’t want any of our friends to know yet, remember?” Brendon leaned close to Ryan’s ear and whispered as quietly as possible. Ryan felt slightly hurt, but nodded and sunk down in his cheap seat, leaning his head against the uncomfortable scratchy material.

He winced at every loud noise and scream, though wasn’t as scared anymore because he kept his eyes closed.

Near the middle of the movie, he heard Dallon and Brendon giggling. He peered one eye open and took a peak at the other two. What he saw wasn’t horrible, but it made him jealous and kind of pissed off. He assumed one of them had just gotten a spook from the movie because he sure did from just hearing the scene. Brendon was clinging on to Dallon, the teacher doing the same back.

Why the hell are they so close to each other?

Ryan watched their every move very closely. It was easy since he wasn’t emotionally invested in the movie at all. Dallon began stroking Brendon’s hair sneakily, and Brendon leaned into the touch. Their hands were limply intertwined. Ryan felt the anger and jealousy fill up his entire body.

How could Brendon hold another man’s hand at the same time as he’s holding mine?

Ryan yanked his hand away from Brendon, earning him a confused look. Brendon began to slightly get why Ryan looked so mad, he figured he was watching everything that was happening.
