The Weakness

Erin watched the portal open above her. She narrowed her eyes and clenched her fists, fighting back the giant. Once she got it under control, growled and flew up towards the Tesseract.

She saw Thor out of the corner of her eye. He landed on the balcony. Loki looked down at him and jumped. Erin watched them from the circular platform Loki had been standing on moments before. She heard an engine behind her, and turned to see a SHIELD plane.

As soon as it started shooting, Loki shot its wing and it spiraled away. Thor punched him in the face and grabbed his hammer. At the same time, Loki raised his staff and Erin knew what would happen. Turning Frost Giant, she jumped between them and cried out as they struck. Thor's hammer hit her neck.

"Erin!" They shouted in unison. Said girl looked down to see a blade protruding from her chest. It was pulled out rapidly and she sunk to her knees, the blue fading from her skin.

Thor caught her before she could fall and sat her up. Loki stared at his sister in shock.

"You fool. Why would you get between us?" Thor said.

"Didn't...want you...to kill...each other..." Erin coughed and blood trickled from the edge of her mouth. Loki looked away, tears pricking the corners of his eyes.

"Erin. You are a fool." Thor mumbled, wiping away the blood from her face and brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I'm a fool. I-I'm a fool." Erin whispered, lifting her hand weakly. Loki clasped it and her eyes met his.

"Erin..." He said softly. She smiled weakly and let go of Loki's hand. Thor set her gently on the ground.
