Surprise!

17 September 1996

"I'm pregnant...?" Her light brown eyes seemed to twinkle under the dim lights because of the tears that threatened to fall at any moment. She looked up and met a pair of pale aquamarine eyes that were filled with excitement and joy. "We're going to have a baby..."

"Cass, we're going to be parents!" The aquamarine eyed man jumped out of his seat and pulled the jet black haired woman out of her seat and into his arms. "Cassidy Dean-Lockhart, we are going to have a baby!" Joy, laughter, and excitement filled the room as the couple hugged each other in tears. Remembering where they were, the couple turned to the woman dressed in white robes who sat behind her desk.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" The woman simply smiled as she patiently waited for the couple to calm down. When they did, the apologized and sat back down their seats. The doctor explained to the couple the do's and don'ts during pregnancy and prescribed vitamins for the woman.

"Come back every month for a check-up to see how your baby is doing. During those times, I would prescribe more vitamins for you. Now, I would like to ask you, would you want to know the gender of your baby on your 12th week?" The doctor asked the excited couple.

The couple looked at each other and came to a silent agreement. "We would love that!" They said in unison.

"Then I would set your schedule every month and if you would want to change the date for a certain month, please call me and we will reschedule." The woman instructed.

"Thank you, doctor. We really appreciate it." The man said as he stood and offered his hand for a shake to the doctor. Cassidy and the doctor both stood and shook hands.

"Of course. I'll see you in a month."

19 November 1996

"Are you ready to know the gender of your baby?" The woman wearing her white robes asked the excited couple as she spread the cold gel on the other woman's belly. Cassidy shivered at the cold gel but her eyes twinkled as she held her husband's hand.

"Yes, we're very excited!" The man answered. The doctor smiled and gently pressed the ultrasound against Cassidy's belly and moved it around to get different angles of the growing life inside the woman.

"The baby is looking goo–" The doctor paused as she looked at the screen more intently and carefully moved the device around like she was looking for something.

The man's excited smile slowly dropped as he noticed the sudden pause of the doctor. Worry filled him and he watched the screen to try and see what the doctor was worried about. When he saw something unusual, he froze. "Is that, a third arm?"

Cassidy worriedly glanced at her husband then watched the screen, trying to find what he was talking about. "John, what do you mean?"

The doctor then turned to the couple with an excited smile, gaining their attention. "Yes, that seems to be a third arm."

"What?! Is there something wrong with my baby?!" Cassidy asked in horror.

"Please calm down, Mrs. Lockhart. There is nothing wrong with your child. In fact, your babies are perfectly healthy." The doctor reassured the worried couple, subtly hinting to the couple.

The two sighed in relief until it dawned to them, "Babies?"

"Yes, babies. Congratulations, you are pregnant with a healthy baby boy and girl!"

21 April 1997

"Cassidy, I'm going to need you to push." The doctor instructed as the nurses around them move in an orderly manner.

Cassidy laid on the bed, whimpering and sweating as she pushed her first baby out despite of the pain and tiredness she felt. Her hand clutched onto John's who held on to her encouragingly. He whispered sweet nothings in her ears and continuously wiped off his wife's sweat.

"I see the head! Cassidy, keep pushing for your baby!" The doctor instructed once more. In a few more minutes, a shrill cry filled the room. "It's a baby boy!"

Two nurses took the newborn, whose cord was just cut by John, and cleaned him up while the others continued to assist on the birth of the second child.

Ten minutes passed and another shrill cry filled the room as the newborn child announce itself to the world. "A baby girl!"

"Congratulations!"

A few hours passed and Cassidy woke up from her rest in a private room in the hospital. John sat beside the bed while holding her hand.

"Where are they?" Cassidy tiredly asked the love of her life who gazed at her proudly. He placed a soft kiss at the back of her hand before turning to look at the two small hospital cribs where two newborn kids slept soundly. One of the babies was wrapped in a blue blanket while the other was wrapped in a pink one, indicating their genders. "Can you pull them closer?"

John complied and pulled the cribs closer to the bed. "What are we going to name them?" Cassidy looked lovingly at her children, especially her daughter. She had always wanted to have a little girl.

"You name our son, I'll name our daughter, is that okay?" Cassidy asked. John readily agreed. "Let's say their names on three."

"One."

"Two."

"Three."

"Levin." John said while Cassidy said, "Francine."
