15. Nightmares

NIGHTMARES

The fogginess in her mind clears, her body tense as she wakes up with a gasp.

Everything is out of focus as she feels a gentle hand on her arm, the girl looking up to see Peter looking down at her, his brown eyes worried as he helps her up.

With a groan, her eyes widen as she recalls what happened, her heart beating faster as she hesitantly looks around the room, confirming what she had managed to avoid for a while.

All the Avengers are gathered in the room, which can only mean one thing. They found out.

"You've got some explaining to do." Tony says, his voice coming out harsher than he intended.

"Tony." Natasha says in a warning tone, the man letting out a sigh as he looks away.

"I know." The girl says avoiding their gaze. "I'm sorry."

"Take your time." Bruce reassuringly says, glaring at Tony who rolls his eyes in response.

"Want to tell us what happened?" Steve asks, the team taking a seat as the girl takes in a deep breath.

There's no beating around the bush. She has to tell them.

"I-uh...I recently discovered that I have abilities."

"What sort of abilities?" Natasha asks.

"Just promise me that you won't run any tests, please?" She says, looking at them with pleading eyes.

"Alright. I promise kiddo." Tony says.

"Well, I'm not exactly sure what they are yet, but I think they are energy related." She says, the whole time looking at the floor.

"When did they manifest?" Wanda asks.

"Umm...around a week ago?"

"Can you show us?" Steve asks, the girl's head snapping up in surprise.

"You want me to show you?" She asks surprised, nodding as she stands up, Steve giving her a reassuring look.

Closing her eyes, the girl pictures the energy flowing through her body, her lips curving into a small smile when her hands glow with a blue light.

"Woah." Peter says.

"Can you do something with it?" Clint asks and she nods.

She lifts her hands and moves her fingers, sending a small wave of energy towards him.

"Woah." Clint says as feels the energy slightly push him.

"Is that all you can do?" Tony asks, the girl giving him a small shrug in response.

"So far that's all I've seen. I don't know if there's something else."

"Okay." Tony says with a nod, walking out of the room right after, the team exchanging glances as he leaves.

An excited Wanda approaches Vanessa, grabbing her hand as she pulls her closer. "You have to meet us at the training room later." She says, smiling when the girl nods her head and tells them that she'll meet them there. Satisfied with her response, Wanda gives her hand a slight squeeze before walking away with Pietro.
