CHAPTER 7 - part 1
Recap: uhh lemme see, the whole bunch has a group date at the cinema. Also, the boys think Megan is stalking Jale because she says things in a weird tone and acted like she knew that Jale's sister died. (In case it wasn't clear, she was killed: see prologue)
Megan's POV
"Waterloo! Something something sooomething waterloo!" I belted out.
"And you complain about my singing." Tammy huffed.
"Hey, I can totally sing."
"Maybe. In another life."
"Hmph."
"Man this queue is so long!"
"Tell me about it." A deep voice said behind us.
"Hey guys." Tammy nodded to Evan and Jale.
"Sup." Evan nodded back.
Jale smiled at me and I felt butterflies in my stomach.
"So..." I drawled. "Not to be mean or anything, but why are you guys here?" I asked.
They smirked at each other and turned to me.
"Consider it a double date."
"Except there is no way I would ever date Evan." Tammy said crossing her arms. "Remember that." She said poking him.
"Ouch Tammykins, your blows hurt."
She snorted. "Idiot." She muttered.
"Do you guys know each other?" I asked suspiciously.
Evan answered yes.
Jale answered no.
And Tammy answered maybe.
And now I'm confused.
"We've talked before." Tammy explained.
"Including this morning when we dicussed that tonight would be a double date." Jale said calmly.
"Except that Evan and I-
"Aren't dating, we get it." Everyone said simultaneously.
"Sheesh, tough crowd." Tammy huffed.
"What movie are we watching then?" I asked.
"Whatever you want." Jale said.
"Hey! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Back it up bro, I am not sitting through a chick flick, no way." Evan exclaimed.
"But Evaaaan, it'd be so much fun." Tammy pouted.
Evan finally succombed to her puppy dog eyes and we bought the tickets.
I can't remember what the movie was called but it was really sad.
These two kids grew up together and got married. Then the husband was diagnosed with cancer. After a hard and long struggle, he survived. They had a kid and then that kid got cancer. Except this kid died. And then the dad kept saying how he wished he had died instead of putting his kid through all that misery.
The kid died at the age of eleven.
Jale, who was sitting next to me was teary eyed. Instead of making fun of him, I took his hand in my own and leaned on him.
After a while, though he seemed hesitant, he leaned his head on mine and we sat like that all throughout the movie. It was nice.
We got out of the theatre, feeling a little depressed after that.
