Chapter 13

Jale's POV

"Holy mother of baby tacos." I muttered. "You're not serious Megan."

She looked down at her toes in embarassment.

"I'm sorry Jale-

"Don't you f*cking say sorry to me!"

"Jale please-

"Shut up Megan. Just shut up." I yelled and stormed off to the kitchen.

I could hear her trailing behind me and it annoyed me even more.

"Stop following me!" I roared.

She whimpered and took a cautious step back.

I yanked the fridge door open and roughly grabbed the milk carton. While pouring some in my glass, I tipped the carton too far and milk spilled all over the counter and floor.

"For f*ck's sake!" I screamed.

Megan was quick to step in and try to help but I didn't want her help.

"Leave me the f*ck alone Megan!" I yelled.

"Stop yelling at me!" She cried.

"You just told me you slept around for money and you want me to stop yelling at you?!" I exclaimed indignantly. "Well what shall I do then? Plant f*cking roses?!"

"Yeah but I don't freaking do that anymore Jale! I needed money! I was in a bad place!"

"Don't give me that cr@p! You know what being in a bad place is? Being in a bad place is barely having any money to live. Being in a bad place is maintaining three jobs at once. Being in a bad place is skipping meals so your mother can eat. Being in a bad place is finding your sister was left for dead!" My voice faltered but I didn't cry.

Big boys don't cry.

Her face softened at the mention of my sister.

"Don't you get it Jale? Chris sent that thug after your sister and now my men and I are going after him. Who do you think killed your sister's murderer? You shot his foot because you couldn't kill him. Even after what he did to your sister, you couldn't kill him."

"So I didn't kill him. What's it to you?"

"Who do you think killed him Jale?"

"Did you?"

"Maybe." She shrugged.

I stood there, attentively watching her features. Her brown eyes, brown hair and tan skin.

"Why?" I whispered.

"You are the stupidest person I have ever f*cking met."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

She gave me a look that said this-guy-is-f*cking-dense.

"Jale you've been in my gang for almost a year. You like to wear tight T-Shirts or graphic tanks. Your only friend is Evan. You had a sister who was killed because Chris' gang is plain murderous-

"So you do stalk me?"

She shrugged. "Stalking, crushing, call it whatever you want."

And then it dawned on me. "For how long?" I asked, not being able to help myself.

"Long enough."

"That doesn't change anything." I said coldly.

"I know." She sulked. "Maybe we can still be friends?" She said sadly.
