Epilogue PART 2

It took a few months before Jale found out that Megan was diagnosed with cancer. It made him so furious and heartbroken at the same time. He had never questionned the seperation, having so much respect for Megan's decisions.
It was one night, after he had tucked in little Lucy for bed, he grabbed his mail and looked through the bills.
There was one from the hospital. It was addressed to Megan, but to his house. The hospital probably hadn't changed the address in their computers yet. Curiosity got the best of him, for best or for worst is debatable, and he opened the envelope.
It was a bill for Megan's chemo treatments.
He spent an hour rereading the letter, believing it was all just a mistake. He spent another downstairs in his training room, beating up his lonely punching bag.
Finally, sweaty and in tears, he grabbed Lucy who was still sleeping and strapped her in the back of his minivan. He drove to Megan's place, the only reason he didn't pass the speed limit was for Lucy's sake.
Being a parent can truly change a person.
He got to Megan's house and she reluctantly explained everything to him. They cried together and after a brief but intense screaming match, they settled for an agreement.
Jale and Megan got back together and this time, Jale attended all of Megan's treatments.
Aunt Tammy and her husband babysat Lucy when it was needed.
Soon, things were looking up, Megan's treatments were working. They were expensive, but they worked.
Until finally, the doctors said Megan could go home. They couldn't promise that it wouldnt come back so she would have to have check-ups regularly. But for Jale and Megan, it made all the difference. They also said they'd have to give Lucy check-ups after a certain age because there was a bigger chance she could develop cancer as well, which was a huge burden for the two young parents.
One thing was for sure, as long as they were healthy, and as long as they were together, they would live happily ever after.
