Will hugged me tighter in his arms. I smiled and leaned back into his chest. We sat like that for almost an hour, the TV playing a movie, but neither of us watching.

"Hey, you want Hot Cocoa?" I asked. Will kissed my cheek and nodded. Getting up, I wrapped a blanket around my shoulders for warmth. I shuffled to the kitchen and rummaged through the cabinets for the cocoa mix.

I called back into the living room. "Do you know where the chocolate powder is? I could've sworn it was right here!"

Will said no. I thought about it for a moment. Hearing footsteps behind me, I turned.

"I'll check and see if Maggie has any," Will said, bundling with a jacket and scarf, gloves already on his hands. Maggie was a good friend across the street. She was in her late 60's, and was the sweetest person in the neighborhood.

"Don't be long. I'll text you if I find any." Will gave me a quick kiss and was off. I continued  to sort through the drawers before realizing we didn't have any. So, I sat back down on the couch to wait for Will to come back with hot chocolate.

Ten minutes later and my husband still wasn't back. I looked  out the window to see it snowing, dark outside. Deciding to go find him, I bundled up tightly and ventured outside. I'd barely walked a yard out my door before I saw an arm on the ground from around a snowbank left by the plows.

"What the-" I murmured as I sped up. "Are you oka-! Will!"

He was lying on the ground, a small section under his head covered in blood.

"Oh my God! Will!" I fell to my knees beside him. Quickly, I pulled out my phone and dialed 911. (any emergency number you would call, like 999 or 112 in Britain for example... I think, tell me if I'm wrong so I can fix it)

"911, what's your emergency?" A female voice responded.

"My husband! He-he fell, a-and there's blood under h-his head, and I don't know what to do!" I said, panicked.

"Please stay calm, Ma'am. Where do you live?" The operator responded kindly.

"W-we live at 216 M-marigold Circle. Please s-send an ambulance or-or I don't know!"

"An ambulance is on the way. Do you want me to stay on the phone with you until they arrive?"

"Y-yes please..." I whispered, terrified. "I don't know how it happened... One moment he's all cheerful, going ac-c-cross the street to get Hot Chocolate powder from our neighbor... A-and he was taking too long, so I went out to find him and he was just laying there..."

"What is your husband's name?" The calm voice asked.

"His n-name is will. Mine is Ava."

"Okay, Ava. The ambulance is about a minute away."

"Alright..." I whispered. I looked at Will again. He was pale and his face felt extremely cold as I cupped his cheek in my hand. I'd forgotten to put on gloves.

"Oh, Will... Please be alright," I whispered. Hot tears started to roll down me frozen cheeks and I sobbed on his chest.

A pair of strong arms pulled me up by the shoulders, away from my husband.

"No! Will!" I cried out, startled that I had missed the flashing lights and siren of the ambulance pulling up.

I looked up into the face of the paramedic  holding me back while two others were beside Will.

"Ma'am it'll be okay. Do you want to come with us to th-"

"Yes! Please! Don't leave me!" I interrupted him. He helped me up and let me climb into the back of the ambulance while the others went about getting will on a gurney. Just a minute later, we were on our way.

I gripped Will's hand tightly as we drove, the medic flashing a light into Will's eyes.

"Do you know what happened?" One asked me.

"No. I just... I- We..."

I took a moment to compose myself. Shutting my eyes and swallowing. I took a deep, shuddering breath.

"We were sitting on the couch watching a movie," I still hadn't opened my eyes yet. " I wanted Hot Cocoa, so I got up to get the little packets of the instant stuff. While I was looking, Will came in and said he would go and get some from Maggie, the sweet older lady across the street. I didn't find anything, so I sat back on the couch to wait. It had been about ten minutes or so and he still hadn't come back..." My voice cracked and hot tears fell down my face.

"I went outside to see where he was... and h-he was just laying there."

I shivered and opened my eyes again. Will was still unconscious.
