CHAEYOUNG sat on her couch fidgeting with her phone. after jennie and taeyong left, she kept the news channel on the tv on constantly in hopes of not coming across any bad news regarding her friend. all she wished for was the safety of her friend.

ding dong.

the doorbell rang. she ran to go open it expecting her boyfriend waiting at the doorstep.

"jaehyun!" she greeted him with a hug as soon as the door flung open. "you haven't been home for more than two days now." she pouted.

"ah, i know i know. i'm so sorry babe but you know about my work." he pecked her forehead.

"so how was the business trip?" she inquired.

"uh-" he scratched his head. "it was good."

chaeyoung was living with the lie that her boyfriend, jung jaehyun was the son of a businessman and the only heir to their company. his parents had unfortunately passed away in a car crash when he was a little boy. now he took care of the business and it required him to constantly go to different parts of the world for so called "business trips".

she almost never doubted him. poor chaeyoung was too gullible for that. but he never wanted to keep her in a lie, he never even intended falling for her. it just happened and he couldn't help it, so he decided to make her his even if it meant keeping her in the dark about he really was.

he made sure none of his co-workers knew about this. dating was strictly prohibited since their head believed that it would distract them. no relationships should last more than a night.

he headed to his room to change his clothes. rummaging through his closet he noticed some of his clothes were missing. it didn't take long for it to click in his mind.

"jennie would love to meet you!" chaeyoung exclaimed. they were out on a date when the topic of friends and family came up.

"who's jennie?" jaehyun asked.

"she's one of my best friends." she let out a long sigh. "too bad she lives in seoul. we barely even talk. it's just we're both so busy."

"well, i would love to meet her one day." he smiled.

well he never thought he would meet her in such a way.

he quickly changed and got out of the room to see chaeyoung setting up the dinner table.

"smells good." he breathed and sat down.

the two began to eat whilst eating talking about their days just like any normal couple.

"um babe, do you know anything about the two fugitives on loose? the ones giving the police a hard time?" she hesitantly asked, just to make sure he didn't know them. he usually wasn't aware of what was happening in the country.

"did you mean lee taeyong and kim jennie? the ones who were in our house just today? of course i know them." he laughed.

her eyes widened and knuckles turned white. she couldn't understand how he knew about it.

"why did you do it?" his face was now cold as ice, devoid of any expressions.

"i-" her throat was dry. she couldn't force the words out of her mouth no matter how much she tried.

"tell me where they went and you'll be safe."

what happened to the always cheerful and funny jaehyun she knew? never in her dreams had she imagined seeing him like this. he was so cold, he wasn't her jaehyun anymore. she didn't know the man standing in front of her.

bang!

she flinched from the loud noise of their front door being knocked to the ground.

"hide! go!" jaehyun yelled at her as he ran to the source of the sound.

she forced herself to move but it was too late. six men came pouring in. she recognised none of them but all of them had the same menacing look on their faces.

"oh look what we have here," a tall and lean guy with black hair began. "another betrayer."

"how the fuck did you know where i was?" jaehyun's voice came out strong.

the black haired guy sighed. "still underestimating our power? it was rather easy actually. we had been doubting you for a few months now. so jungwoo placed a tracker on you. we didn't expect much but what we found was so much more interesting. we were actually just outside, listening to your conversation about taeyong and that girl."

he peeked over and his eyes met with chaeyoung's. "i don't think we've met, i'm kim doyoung, leader of nct here in korea." he grinned.

chaeyoung was usually calm and barely lost her temper but this guy, doyoung really knew how to get on her nerves. she wanted to slap the shit out of him.

"oh you're not so friendly i guess." he noticed her gritting her teeth to resist herself from punching him.

"but your boyfriend here also was a part of nct until today. bet you didn't know that." he chuckled moving closer to her.

"stay away from her." jaehyun sternly commanded as he backed up protectively towards chaeyoung.

"why do you have to be so stubborn? you leave me with no choice dear jaehyun."
