CHAEYOUNG'S body felt as if it had been paralysed. from head to toe, her body had hardened like ice. she watched helplessly in horror as the men hit jaehyun mercilessly. she wanted to help, she wanted to help so bad but she couldn't. never in her life had she felt more cowardly and useless.
she was the sheep and the wolves came for her.
after a few minutes jaehyun lay on the floor motionless. maybe he had passed out. then she saw one of them slowly creeping towards her and she couldn't even fight back.
the guy took out something which looked like a syringe with a needle at the end. it was filled with dark green liquid. she put up her hands in defence but it proved to be useless as the guy held both her arms and jabbed the needle into her neck.
"this should keep her out for a while."
▁
jennie mindlessly stared out the window into the dark night while taeyong drove. a few yawns escaped his mouth and his eyes felt droopy but he didn't want to stop driving to stay somewhere.
back in the evening they had turned the car radio on for a few minutes and it wasn't shocking for them to hear the news about them. the police and the whole nation knew about the two fugitives working together.
but out of everything something they said really stuck to both of their minds.
"people all over the country are now calling kim jennie and lee taeyong the 21st century bonnie and clyde."
jennie felt the male beside her succumbing to sleep.
"stop the car." she said in a commanding tone.
"what?" the girl was definitely a weird one he thought.
"i said stop the damn car." her voice was stern enough to make anyone but taeyong obey.
"why?"
she rolled her eyes skywards. "because a car crash caused by a very sleepy driver is not the way i want to go."
he opened his mouth to protest but jennie shot him a sharp glare, shutting him up.
"fine." he muttered while stoping the car and switched seats with jennie.
"this is crazy." he mumbled.
"you better shut the fuck up lee taeyong or i will not hesitate to shoot you."
"you're crazy." he mumbled again this time making sure she couldn't hear it.
"by the way where exactly are we going?" she asked the question to which taeyong himself did not know the answer to.
"busan. i have a friend there, he could get us out of the country." that was the rough idea what he wanted to do.
"thanks."
"what?" he wasn't sure he had heard it right. the words which came from her mouth felt foreign to him.
"i said thank you for helping me. if it wasn't for you i would be rotting in a cell right now. i didn't know gangsters could be so nice." she smiled.
and for the first time she saw a genuine smile light up his face.
"you should get some rest now, i'll wake you up after a few hours."
