Evelyn's POVThe gryphon swooped down to warn us. "They come, your highnesses, in numbers and weapons far greater than our own."
Oreius corrected the gryphon, "Numbers do not win a battle."
I looked to my brother on his unicorn and he looked to me on my own horse. "No. But I bet they help."
We watched as Jadis approached on her carriage. She wore Aslan's mane around her neck and I thought of choking her with it. "I get first hit on the Witch." My brother smirked to me and I glared at her army.
"You'll have to beat a lot of people to it." Peter turned to Edmund who stood with the other part of our army further back. He nodded then turned to me. I nodded back and we both unsheathed our swords. We held them up and our army cheered. Her army then cheered and roared as they came after us.
We waited a bit then I gave Peter a nod. He sent the signal and all of the gryphons flew ahead. They dropped rocks onto her army as they marched on. Just like the planes back home, dropping bombs.
"Are you with me?" I questioned Oreius and my brother.
"To the death." Oreius responded and I looked at Peter.
"To the end of the line." I nodded and repeated it.
"To the end of the line." I then raised my sword and yelled out. "For Narnia! And for Aslan!" Our army charged on into battle as we led them.
The Phoenix we sent out set a barrier of fire between the two armies. We waited for a second, but Jadis put the flame out. She charged on and I looked to Peter. He called for us to fall back and lead them to the rocks.
I watched as Peter fell off of his unicorn and all time slowed. Oreius charged with a rhinoceros to the army. Peter called for them to stop but they didn't listen. I hurried my horse to get to my twin. I jumped off and helped Peter fight.
"Edmund! There are too many! Get out of here! Get the girls and get them home!" Peter yelled to our brother. I continued to fight with a beast as Beaver pulled our brother away.
From the corner of my eye I saw Edmund stopped moving and was trying to get back to us. He got out of Beaver's grasp and ran to us with his sword ready. I looked to see Jadis getting closer to us. "Edmund no!" I yelled out as he charged at her. I ran after him watching his every move. She went to catch him with her wand but he cut it in half. A large force of magic sprung out.
Jadis glared and went to stabbed Edmund in his side with her broken wand. "Edmund!" Peter and I screamed. Before the broken wand touched my brother I was in the way. I had knocked Edmund down and took the hit.
"You will never win." I told her in a wobbly tone as I fell back into the grass with a groan of pain.
Edmund went to stab her. Peter was by his side as they fought the witch only feet away from me. They weren't just fighting for me, they were fighting for Narnia. For their kingdom which they've grown to love. Though, the part where I got stabbed definitely pushed them harder to win.
I groaned in pain as I couldn't get up. A beast came for them, but they both killed him with one slash. Peter charged first onto the Witch as Edmund attacked from the back. She knocked Peter to the ground and then turned to Edmund. He slashed at her, but she dodged. Peter attacked again when he stood and she blocked his hit.
A roar sounded through the rocks. We all looked up to see Aslan. I smirked and then winced and groaned in pain. "Impossible." Jadis murmured.
An army appeared behind him and charged for battle. Jadis tripped Peter and he fell to the ground. Before Edmund could stop her, she stabbed him in he arm to keep him still. She went for the final blow but Aslan jumped on her and pushed her down. Edmund helped Peter up and watched as Aslan killed the Witch. It all happened in slow motion while Aslan turned back to them. "It is finished." After that, I closed my eyes to try and lessen the pain, but it seemed to make it worse.
"Peter!" Lucy and Susan called out. "Edmund!" They turned and Lucy hugged them. Susan stopped and looked around. I looked at her and bit back a cry at the pain.
"Where's Eve?" Susan asked and Peter looked around. I shut my eyes tight. The pain was too much.
I started to gasp for air feeling like I couldn't breathe. The voices around me started to be muffled, but I knew it was my siblings. I could tell Susan sat next to me and hurried to apply pressure to my side. I gasped at the pain and cried out. Lucy, Edmund, and Peter were there not a second later. They sat down and Lucy was already giving me her healing potion.
I stopped breathing for a few seconds. I saw a light, I didn't want to go to it. I wanted to be with my siblings and my friends not to this stupid light. I walked away but it kept getting brighter. "Stop!" I yelled and it did.
Then I was in a very peaceful place. I was on a beach. They had beautiful flowers floating in the crystal clear water. I looked around for anyone to help me and I saw a figure. I walked closer to the figure to see it was Aslan.
"Aslan?" He turned to me with a sad smile.
"Hello my child." I looked around confused and he answered my unasked question. "This is the middle of my country and all of mortal life. This is where one goes when they die. They can choose to either go back to their life or they can peacefully go into my country. It is just past the waves."
I wanted to go. It seemed very peaceful and calm, but I knew I couldn't. "I know you want to go back. You weren't and aren't ready. It wasn't and isn't your time." He gave me a nod and I closed my eyes.
I could see dark and then I felt like I was underwater. Like I was only inches from the top of the water to get air.
I coughed and gasped and greedily took in air. I heard relief filled laughs and I looked up. I was pulled in for a hug from my twin. "Don't ever do that to me again." I laughed and hugged him back.
"I'll try." My siblings smiled and I could see the tears in their eyes. "Don't cry my dears." I pulled them in for a big hug which they all gladly accepted.
"When are you going stop getting yourself hurt?" Lucy asked me and I shook my head.
"When you stop needing my protecting."
We watched as Aslan walked up and unfroze a Narnian by blowing a little. Lucy smiled and got up. She ran around and healed everyone with her potion. I looked to my twin and hugged him again. Susan and Edmund started to walk away and help people too.
"Peter." He looked at me and saw my tears welling up. "I died." He nodded but I grabbed his face to look at me.
"No. Pete. I saw the light. I was given the choice of going into Aslan's country. That's where dead people live in calm and peacefulness." I looked down to the grass and then let a few tears fall. "I don't want to do that again." He saw how much it hurt me and he pulled me in for a hug. I started to cry again and I hugged him tighter not wanting to let go.
"I promise, I won't let it happen again." I could hear that he was in tears from the way his voice wavered.
"I'm just happy that Edmund didn't have to live through that. None of you deserve to go through that." I cried into his chest and he started to rub my back.
"You didn't deserve it either. But, The Witch? She got what she deserved."
