The rest of the day passed rather quickly. Sam had put together a crude relationship chart over a large map of Bozeman, Montana, that they had picked up at a local gas station. It didn't take him long, however, before he was circling a spot on the map with his red sharpie. "There."

Catherine sat up from where she had been staring at the ceiling at the sound of his voice. "There what?" she asked, shifting so she was propped up on her elbows. "Done already?"

"It's here," Sam confirmed. "Just like the last time. Always in a straight line." He pointed towards several red X's along a highway. "Secluded spots or parks following a major highway." He snapped the cap onto his marker and tossed it.

Catherine swung her feet over the side of the bed, sitting up. "Alright," she agreed. "Sounds good. How do we kill it? Er, her?"

"Stab a kitsune in the heart. But we're not killing her. Not yet." Sam crossed the room to stand in front of her. "Talk first and you're not coming."

"What, Sam?" Catherine hurriedly stood up as he started to pack his bag. "I thought the whole point in me tagging along was for me to help." Sam ignored her, turning his back on her to pack up a few things. "Sam!" He looked up in irritation only to freeze at the reflection he saw through the Window. Lucifer.

He whirled around, his breathing heavy and fast, but there was no one there. Only Catherine frowning at him curiously. "Sam..." she started cautiously, taking a small step forward.

Sam immediately took a step back, "just... leave me alone." He shook his head, grabbing the bag and hurrying out of the room. He stumbled, nearly losing his footing as flashes of pain and images of him burning in Hell fire danced across his vision.

Catherine followed him out of the room with a curious frown, it didn't take a genius to figure out what was happening. "Sam, you're okay..." she kept her voice steady, something real for him to hold on to. "Relax."

He whirled around suddenly, one hand latched onto her throat and the other on her shoulder as he pinned her against the wall. His eyes were distant, like he wasn't really seeing her as his breathing came out in short bursts. "I can't do that." He ground out. "Do you understand me?"

"You have two options, Sam," she choked out, struggling for air as her hand clasped around his wrist trying to pull him away. Her attempts were futile, now that she was human her strength barely compared to his in the moment. "You either deal with this now, or you run. But, either way, it's going to catch up to you." His grip tightened and she gasped. "Sam, I can't breathe."

She didn't get a response, his eyes glossy as they stared right through her - he wasn't here, not mentally. "Sam! Sam, tell me the name of the first person you ever saved." She groaned at his tight grip, gasping shortly. "Tell me."

Sam groaned, as he tried to force his mind into the present, "L-Lily Sutton..." he mumbled the name of the girl he saved on his first hunt.

"And the next?" She croaked, feeling some of the pressure being let off her throat - not completely but she knew she was getting to him. "Focus on the name, Sam."

"Haley Marshall."

Catherine took in a deep breath as best as she could, "see? You're in control, on solid ground. You are not in Hell, you are not dying. Name them."

"Elijah Marshall. Kaleb Miller. Courtney Rossi." Sam's hand slipped from her throat as he stumbled back and Catherine nearly slumped to the ground in relief, her whole body shaking as it finally got the air she desperately craved. "Keith Leak." He closed his eyes for a second, leaning against the door for support.

Catherine steadied herself, her hand rubbing gently at the bruises forming on her throat. "See? I told you I knew what I was doing."

Sam looked up at her with wide eyes, feeling the guilt wash over him when he saw the look of pain on her face as she rubbed at her throat. He cleared his throat, "thank you." He didn't wait for a response before gathering up his stuff and taking off towards the car.
