***1492***
She had finally returned to her home town after what felt like forever, but what she found was gruesome and haunted her to this very day. She raced to the small cottage, her heart pounding in her chest. She gasped at what she saw, her father pinned to the wall by a sword through her chest and her mothers throat ripped out and thrown across the bed.
"No, mama!" she hugged her lifeless body as she sobbed hysterically.
"What a mess..." a familiar voice said and Catherine slowly straightened up, tears in her eyes as she starred at the Devil himself in the doorway. "Okay, I'll say it..." he chuckled despite the horrified look on Catherine's face. "Niklaus was quite the Soldier. I mean, you've got to admire his handiwork." His eyes scanned the room, but what really caught his attention was her father pinned to the wall. "Sword in the Daddy."
"Get out of my head!" She shouted, blinking back the tears in her eyes to not seem weak in front of him.
"Tell me how this slaughter went down again?" He teased, pressing his one finger into his lips. "Oh, that's right. Klaus and Elijah were going to kill you in a blood sacrifice to free me, and you ran for the hills. Only to come back and find your entire family had been massacred. So, if I'm adding this up right, your family's entire death is your fault."
"No," Catherine felt the tears spring to her eyes and he only grinned madly. "No, no!"
Dean starred down at Catherine as she laid fitfully in Sam's bed, a pillow in his hands hovering over her face. All he'd have to do is apply a little pressure and...
"Put the pillow down, Dean."
He cursed his luck, "Kare..."
"If you kill her... it's murder..." Dean turned in time to see the pointed look on her face as she crossed her arms. "And you've already pissed Sam off by killing one girl he cares about... you wanna add to that list?"
Dean scoffed, tossing the pillow back onto the bed, "Sam doesn't care about her. He hates her just as much as I do."
"And yet, Sam's the one who made some big romantic speech about her and you're the one threatening to smother her in her sleep," she shot back and Dean rolled his eyes. Karoline sighed, sinking down into the chair beside the bed, "the thing about Sam is, despite everything he's still so optimistic about everything and everyone. So, people like Catherine and Amy... he see's the good in them, he see's the chance to change them."
"Even when he's wrong?" Dean asked and Karoline slowly nodded, pressing her lips into a thin line.
"Anyway, I brought the sedatives Sam asked for," she pulled the syringe roll bag out.
"I don't want them," Catherine's voice croaked and both snapped their attention over to her, they didn't realize she was awake. "They make me weak, and when I'm weak he can get in my head."
Karoline frowned at that, "who?"
"Lucifer," she mumbled, still half out of it. Karoline frowned over at Dean, silently asking if he knew anything about what she was talking about, but he simply shrugged in response.
"Suit yourself," Karoline gave in with a sigh, laying the roll out bag on the night stand. "There right here if you need them. So, where's Sam?" She asked, turning back to Dean with crossed arms.
"I think he took off somewhere with Blair," he shrugged, seeming disinterested. "We're not exactly on speaking terms, in case you haven't noticed."
"Well, maybe if you stopped taking away everything that has meaning to your little brother, you would be," Catherine spoke up, her voice harsh and raspy. Dean looked over at her and she shrugged. "Standford, Alayna, Amy... I could go on."
