The Buick doors creaked heavily as Karoline closed them, having just parked in front of her hotel room after going out for Coffee and breakfast. She'd started all the way back in Lawrence Kansas and continued to trace her path based on her Dream Journal hoping it would help clear some things up, but everything was still a blank.

How tired she was was really starting to catch up to her; evident in the way her keys seemed to just slip through her fingertips and clatter on the cement. "Damn it..." she whispered with a small eye roll at herself, bending down to scoop them back up.

She straightened, only to come face to face with a familiar pair of green eyes that had her jumping back - startled. Blair tipped her head to the side, "hello, Karoline, so glad I finally caught up to you."

Karoline shook her head with a sigh of relief that it was only her. "Blair. What're you doing here?"

"I brought you a gift." She let a soft incantation slip passed her lips before blowing some powder like substance in her face.

The blonde blinked rapidly, "what the-" black dots danced in her vision before cutting out completely as she slumped to the ground.

Bobby had found them a case. A man was crushed to death on the tenth floor of a building. It didn't seem like much, but they all had been itching for a hunt so they jumped on it - plus, Bobby offered to babysit Jackson so there was really no excuse for them to say no. In exactly 15 hours, Dean pulled the Impala up alongside the curb of an apartment complex.

Alayna climbed out of the back seat of the car, fixing her jacket up over her shoulder before untucking her hair from underneath it. As she got out, her eyes flickered over to Sam's hands; his thumb was pressed against his palm once again and she frowned.

"Feels wonky," Dean muttered.

Sam stuttered out, "What?" He looked over at Alayna, who shrugged, not sure what Dean meant either.

"Working a normal job." Dean circled around the car to stand next to his brother, staring past the line of yellow tape.

"Bobby'll call if anything flares up on the Leviathan front," Sam promised. "In the meantime, you know you want to work this case, Dean. Cop on the wire sounded dumbfounded." He led the way towards the crime scene, and Dean and Alayna fell in step beside him.

Alayna hummed in agreement, remembering Sam's earlier call to the Dearborn police. "Definitely sounds interesting," she added.

"No arguments. It's kinda nice, you know? We're due for a little cut and dry, and, uh..." He trailed off when the cop at the tape stopped them. Dean reached into his jacket pocket for his ID, and Alayna followed suit, showing her fake credentials as the officer lifted up the tape. The three of them ducked their heads and they passed underneath. "You seem good," Dean finished, straightening back up. He tucked his ID back into his suit coat.

"I am," Sam agreed. "For me. By the way..." He slowed at the apartment complex door, holding out a hand so Dean stopped as well. "Thank you."

"For?"

"Amy." Dean seemed to shift nervously, but Sam continued right on. "I know you didn't want to let her go, but it was the right thing to do. So thanks." And with that, he turned and opened the door.

"No problem." Dean hesitated only a second before following. An officer directed them down the hall and into an elevator. Once the door had closed, Alayna glanced over at the older Winchester with a curious frown. He could feel her about to press him, but the elevator dinged, and the doors opened. The Winchester straightened his back and led the way out; however, the look Alayna gave him as he stepped across the threshold held a promise of the conversation's continuation.
