I started this book two days a a half ago and I'm already at chapter ten. It's either because I'm a fast writer, or because I have no life. But that doesn't matter now because it's chapter ten and we love Connor
Hank POV
I wake up, a tired and disoriented mess as I get myself out of bed and into the living room. It appeared to be around 10 in the morning. I usually don't wake up this early, which I suppose is because of me not drinking anything in the last 24 hours that contained alcohol. I I pick up my phone to see I have some messages from Jeffrey, Jeffrey Fowler. " and here goes" I stay with a sigh as I picked myself up out of bed and groaned.
"Sumo get off me!" I command, pushing the big lump of fur off of me. Sumo seem like he didn't want to budge. I rolled the Saint Bernard off of me, finally getting out of bed and starting my day. Opening my phone I look to see Fowler has sent me another text.
I decided to give him a call, not wanting to read that much this early in the morning. "Hank, you have to see this! The cases are now flooding in and now the news are hearing about this!" Fowler yells into the phone. "Alright Jeffrey, calm down stop busting my balls ok? I'll be there in a while and then you can yell at me" I tell him and he hangs up.
"Dammit it's too early for this" I mutter as I start to get ready to go. I do my morning routine, get on some clothes and take a shot of whiskey for the day ahead of me. I knew I wouldn't get drunk from it, but it's a part of my morning routine.
As I was just feeding Sumo, my doorbell rang and I mentally groaned. "Who is it?" I yell, getting a response from the other side of the door. "It's me Lieutenant!" I hear Connor say from the other sidr of the door. "Will I ever get a break?" I ask myself as I glance at Sumo.
Knowing better than to expect an answer, I opened the door and seen Connor and (Name) standing there. She didn't look all too happy to be in the cold weather. "Deviants broke others out of the stores and vandalized the whole street. It's an unusual case because they didn't do it violently. One of our boys are shaken up about it, they decided not to kill him" she explains, the cold air nipping at her face. I can see her nose becoming a slight red color.
"I'm on my way to the station, let's go see what Jeffrey's got for my today" I tell them both and they walk over to my car. "Alright Sumo, heading out" I announce. I only got a quiet snore in response to my announcement. I shut and locked my door, putting my house keys in my pocket and pulling out my car keys. I get in and turn on the heat to a lower setting, not wanting to waste too much gas but also not trying to freeze my ass off.
(Name) POV
"The Deviants have never been this bold before" I said and Hank nods. "Yeah, it's a mess happening here" Hank replied. For some reason, Connor didn't say anything which was strange. Usually, he'd have an input on things like this. I decided not to say anything about it.
"So, what is our job for today?" I ask and Hank shrugged as he drove. "Not sure, I'm thinking about going to give good Ol' Gary a visit" Hank answered, which caused Connor to speak. "Gary? As in the food truck we went to before?" Connor asks and Hank nodded. "Yeah, visiting Gary and getting my usual meal" Hank said. "But the food you ingested is 1.4 times the-" "I told you before and I'm telling you again. Everybody's gotta die of something" Hank pushed back, shooting down Connor and his numbers.
I quietly laughed to myself at their interaction. It was comical the way the two could go back and forth between one another. "When we arrive, I have to report to Cyberlife about my mission" Connor informs us. "I don't wanna hear about your strange mind meetings with whoever" Hank replies and we arrive at Gary's food truck. "Are you sure you wanna eat here today? It's most likely gonna snow in a while, judging from the cold air and the clouds today" I say and he waves it off. "Oh whatever, I want food" Hank says and gets out of the car.
"So..." I start but then I look over to see Connor doing a report already. "Well... Time for more reading I guess" I tell myself and get on my phone and starting to read. Something about Connor seemed to change this morning, and he seemed more distant. I know he's supposed to be a machine and all, but he's been avoiding conversation as much as possible this morning.
I wonder what happened with Connor...
Conner POV
I walk to meet Amanda, seeing her normal stotic look. "Hello Connor" she greets with a flower in her hand. "Hello Amanda" I reply, not allowing anything but my report get out to Amanda. "So your recent case had a Deviant that got away, am I correct?" Amanda asks me with a bit of a frown. "Yes Amanda, he jumped off of a binding and disappeared within the crowd. It was too risky to jump" I tell her and she doesn't say anything for a moment.
"Do you know the nature of flowers Connor?" Amanda asks me. "I know that they are a plant, meaning they use photosynthesis to help keep them nourished and once you pick them they are bound to die sooner than later" I inform Amanda and that causes her expression to seem more calm at the moment. "And what do you think about your new team? What do you think about Hank now, what do you think about (Name)?" Amanda asks, her eyes trying to cause me to feel the pressure of her stare. "The Lieutenant is a rather... Impressionable man for (Name), although things have been going better than it could have been" I tell Amanda and her expression turns to one that is unreadable.
"Ah, (Name). She's a lovely woman, isn't she Connor?" Amanda asks, her eyes studying my every move to see if I'd give away any clues on my opinion of (Name). "I would agree Amanda. She is much kinder to Androids than most humans. Hank however, still has some... Difficulties being alright with Androids" I tell Amanda, no emotion to be seen on my face. "And based on what you've said about (Name), how does that make you feel?" Amanda asks. My expression did not falter which means that it is going good. "I find (Name) to a good person, but I don't feel anything about her. Machines don't feel" I respond and Amanda seemingly liked that answer because despite her natural frown, a small amused look was seen on her face.
"This is going very well. When (Name) got hurt, did you feel anything about it?" Amanda asked, persistent to attempt to try to get me to reveal my feelings on (Name). "I felt nothing, though it would have been a shame if she were to get seriously injured to where it would prevent her from working" I respond. "Very well Connor, that concludes your report" Amanda says and I blink, opening my eyes back into the real world.
"Finally sleeping beauty decides to wake up. For a moment there I thought you'd have to kiss your princess to wake her up (Name)" The Lieutenant said. "A kiss? What is... A kiss?" I ask and Hank pulls over and stops the car just to look at me. "Connor, you don't know what a simple kiss is? How did you survive the Eden club?" The Lieutenant asked me. "I do not know what you are implying here, Lieutenant." I respond and he laughs. "Jesus you're as innocent as a child" the Lieutenant commented.
"Oh no, stop the plotting" (Name) warned the Lieutenant. "Plotting of what, (Name)?" I ask and I notice how she seems uncomfortable. "I apologize if I have made you uncomfortable" I apologize, looking straight into her eyes. "Hank, I'm warning you. Fowler could and would come for your head if he knows you're plotting to corrupt our partner" (Name) says in a warning tone. "I'm not doing anything" The Lieutenant defended with a sly smile. "Just you keep on driving Hank" (Name) says and squints her eyes.
And I still sat there... Not knowing what was going on
