A/N: OKAY SO BEFORE YOU READ THIS. this chapter starts of as Sonia's POV of the car and how they got together. Then it carries on from there parallel to Theo's talk with Jenny and his mum. It might sound confusing but it makes sense in the end. And sorry this came so late :( I was hoping to write a bit more but my laptop crashed and I lost this chapter so I had to rewrite it... oops. Anyways, hope you enjoy! :D
Chapter 19
Back to the night in the car
-
Sonia bit her lip, and rested her head on his shoulder. Theo wrapped his arms gently around her middle, holding her close. She could feel his chest rise and fall as hers hammered in its cage. She watched as their breath fogged up the windows.
“What are we?” Sonia let the words slip out of her mouth in a heavy whisper before she could stop herself.
Sonia felt Theo’s chest rise and fall against her. He turned to face the window with a sigh; she took in the features of his face which drew her in. His hair was dishevelled – thanks to her – there was a slight indication of stubble on his jawline. His eye looked piercingly towards the windows, deep in thought. It caused a riot in her tummy. She stayed silent. Sonia looked around the car interiors, the cream leather seats looked a bit scruffy in places, and it was clean and comforting, she recognised it as the car that pulled up next to her at the traffic lights that first day after school, pumping music form the stereo, but she remembered how he told her he caught busses more often than not.
She let him think and it scared her out of her mind. What if he saw her as nothing but a booty call? Everyone knows they don’t work out, someone always ends up falling for the other and they all get hurt in the end. But she knew she’d cave in. Of course she would never agree to a purely physical relationship, it wasn’t her forte. She wanted to mean something to him. Not his world by a long shot, as nice as that sounds, but someone she can trust beyond belief. Like the way Jack looked at Rose. You jump, I jump. Someone willing to give as much as she would in their relationship, the sort of commitment you get from someone just as vulnerable as you. A little voice in her head was telling her she would these deeming qualities in a boy like Theo. There was something undeniably magnetic about him, she was drawn in and she knew she was goner. She fell hard.
She snapped out of her thoughts as his hands trailed down her sides and rested on her hips, pulled out of their embrace. Theo turned to look at her with a small smile on his lips, his lips slightly parted. She dropped her hands next to her and let them linger on the fabric of his trackies. He caught her off guard by cupping her face with his hands and pulling her in, so that their noses were touching. A tickling sensation coursed through her body.
“It tickled.” Sonia’s voice came out small, her breath caught at their closeness. She frowned on the inside, feeling sheepish, realising she had broken up their intimacy. They let go of each other as Sonia rolled off him, tucking her feet under herself and resting her head on Theo’s lap. Sitting in silence for a moment or too, he was the one to break their silence first.
“What do you want me to be?” The line sounded familiar but regardless it made her insides melt. He reached out and fiddled with her fingers. “I can be anything you want to me to be.” There a was reassurance in his voice and it was then that Sonia realised why it sounded so familiar. She shot up immediately, nearly hitting her head on the roof in the process.
“Did you just quote The Notebook?!” Her words were rushed and her question was answered when she noticed his face change, realising his words. He muttered some words to her, trying to give an explanation but his bewilderedness was too cute to handle. She couldn’t hold the laugh she was biting back and let it slip, her body shaking with laughs. Soon enough Theo joined in too. Tears on the verge of escaping and clutching their sides, she was where she wanted to be. With Theo, he felt like another part of her, so natural and so strong. Somewhere in the midst of their laughter dying down, Theo hoisted her up and pulled her onto his lap, pressing her against his chest. She felt a small kiss at the top of her head.
